United Nations Mission in support of Sweden Agreement visits ports of Hodeida


The United Nations Mission in Support of the Sweden Agreement in Hodeida carried out a field visit to the ports of Hodeida as part of the team’s continuous patrols in support of the Sweden agreement.

The six-person team, headed by Nassereddine Ahmed, visited the ports of Hodeida, Ras Issa and As Saleef, and was briefed on the movement in the ports and their full compliance with the terms of the UN-sponsored Sweden agreement.

The team was accompanied on its visit to the three ports by the liaison officer, Colonel Fadel Al-Matari, and the visit is part of the continuous patrols of the UN team to the ports of Hodeida.

Meeting in Sana’a discusses plans & preparations of service offices for Eid holiday


A meeting in Sana’a province, headed by the Secretary-General of the Local Council, Abdul Qadir Al-Jilani, discussed plans for executive service offices to prepare tourist sites and parks as part of preparations for Eid Al-Fitr holiday.

The meeting, which was attended by the Head of the Planning and Finance Committee in the province’s two local districts, Abdul Salam Al-Jaifi, and the governor’s undersecretary for the services sector, Faris Al-Kahali, and technical affairs, Engineer Saleh Al-Muntaser, touched on the tourism, health, security, traffic, hygiene, and civil defense preparations that must be taken during the Eid holiday at tourist sites.

The meeting, which included directors and representatives of the concerned offices, reviewed the Tourism Office’s plan regarding providing services to tourist sites and parks during the current tourist season.

At the meeting, the Secretary-General of the province’s local district stressed the importance of concerted efforts, preparedness to provide the level of
services provided to citizens, providing an appropriate atmosphere during Eid holiday, and working to enhance community awareness of the importance of preserving the cleanliness and safety of natural sites and places.

Mayor of Sana’a City, Hamoud Obad, on Thursday commenced a campaign to green middle footpaths of the Yemeni capital’s streets.

The campaign started in the Airport Street, Mayor Obad was briefed by his deputy on campaign aimed to plant 3,513 fruit trees and 67,000 flower trees, as part of greening session.

Dhamar Endowment launches distribution of bread to poor


The Endowments Office in Dhamar province has launched the ‘they Feed Food’ project to distribute bread to the poor and needy.

The project, which is implemented through the Ramadan charitable bakeries of the Endowments in the Dhamar city district, targets two thousand families of the poor and needy.

Deputy Director of the Endowments Jabr al-Wajeeh stressed the importance of the project in alleviating the human suffering experienced by the poor and needy.

Al-Wajeeh stressed that the project comes within a series of charitable activities adopted by the General Authority for Endowments, calling on merchants, the well-to-do, and philanthropists to adopt charitable projects so as to reach the poorest and most needy families, and exploit the blessings of the holy month to expand acts of kindness and charity.

Charitable ovens, kitchens project in Sana’a launched


The Office of the General Authority for Zakat in Sana’a province has launched the charitable ovens and kitchens project in the province.

Director of the Authority’s office in the province Abdulwahab al-Tuhaif explained that the project aims to provide a loaf of bread to poor and needy families every day during the holy month of Ramadan.

Al-Tuhaif said around 13,400 beneficiaries will benefit from the project in the province’s districts.

He stated that the project is one of the charity projects that has a role in alleviating the suffering of the poor and needy and enhancing social solidarity among the members of society in light of the circumstances that the country is going through as a result of the aggression and siege.

Discussing general policy of coordination & admission to public universities for 1446 AH


The meeting headed by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the caretaker government, Hussein Hazeb, the Student Affairs Council for Public Universities discussed in its first meeting the general policy of coordination and admission for the academic year 1446 AH, corresponding to 2024-2025 AD.

The meeting was approved in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Ali Sharaf El-Din, the Undersecretaries of the Ministry for Educational Affairs Sectors, Dr. Ghaleb Al-Qans, Scientific Research, Dr. Sadiq Al-Sharaji, Missions, Hassan Ezz El-Din, the Chairman of the Academic Accreditation Council, Dr. Ahmed Al-Haboub, the Secretary-General, Dr. Muhammad Dhaifallah, and the Vice Presidents of Public Universities. Student Affairs: Acceptance rates, absorptive capacity, distribution mechanism, and university calendar.

He approved setting a unified date for opening and closing coordination and admission for the academic year 1446 AH and not restricting admission to this year’s
secondary school results, provided that the electronic portal will be closed in the middle of the next month of Dhu al-Hijjah, and the first of Muharram is the date for the start of the academic year 1446 AH at all levels.

The meeting approved the proposal submitted to reduce admission rates in various academic systems by 5 percent from what is approved in government universities, in the emerging universities, namely the universities of ‘Sa’ada, Hajjah, Al Mahwit, Al Dhale’, and Al Bayda,’ in order to encourage students to enroll in those universities.

He also agreed not to accept any student who fails the Arabic language and dictation exams, even if he succeeds in the rest of the differentiation exams in the various medical, engineering, information technology, computer, and other academic programs.

The meeting decided not to accept any student registered outside the scope of the unified electronic portal, obliging the Free Seats Committee to complete the differentiation and distribution procedures to the
universities not to exceed the dates specified for coordination ,acceptance, and specifying a period of one week for the holder of the free seat to attend unless the seat is considered void or postponed to the next year.

He stressed the need for acceptance rates for this year in the medicine and dental programs to be no less than 90 percent, and for the health, medical and engineering sciences to be no less than 85 percent, and stressing the need for all those obtaining free seats to be subject to the differentiation conditions and approved academic standards.

The Minister of Higher Education directed the relevant sector to cancel the programs and colleges that were opened in public and private universities without the knowledge of the Ministry and after the issuance of the decision of the meeting of the Supreme Council for Higher Education, indicating that these programs will not be added to the electronic portal.

While the Deputy Minister and Undersecretary for the Educational Affairs Sector, and the Ass
istant Undersecretary for the Planning Sector, reviewed the steps and procedures taken by the Ministry to control the coordination, admission and registration process for the next academic year 2024-2025 AD in order to ensure that the deficiencies that occurred in the last academic year were avoided.

The Ministry’s Director of Public Education, Muhammad Zahra, reviewed the difficulties facing the coordination and admission process in public universities during the past academic year.
