Alibaba Cloud Unveils AI Image Generation Model Tongyi Wanxiang to Help Businesses to Unleash Creativity and Productivity

ModelScopeGPT also launched to help users accomplish complex AI tasks

SHANGHAI, CHINA – Media OutReach – 7 July 2023 – Alibaba Cloud, the digital technology and intelligence backbone of Alibaba Group, today unveiled its latest AI image generation model, Tongyi Wanxiang (‘Wanxiang’ means ‘tens of thousands of images’) at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference 2023. The cutting-edge generative AI model is now available for enterprise customers in China for beta testing.

In addition, the cloud pioneer announced the launch of ModelScopeGPT, a versatile framework designed to assist users in accomplishing complex and specialized AI tasks across language, vision, and speech domains by leveraging various AI models on ModelScope. ModelScope is an open-source Model-as-a-Service (MaaS) platform introduced by Alibaba Cloud last year, featuring over 900 AI models.

“Tongyi Wanxiang represents another significant milestone in our pursuit of advanced generative AI models as we continue to explore paradigm-shifting technologies that empower businesses and communities to unleash greater creativity and productivity,” said Jingren Zhou, CTO of Alibaba Cloud Intelligence.

“With the release of Tongyi Wanxiang, high-quality generative AI imagery will become more accessible, facilitating the development of innovative AI art and creative expressions for businesses across a wide range of sectors, including e-commerce, gaming, design and advertising.”

 Introducing Tongyi Wanxiang for Image Generation

The generative AI model is adept at handling various tasks, responding to text prompts in Chinese and English to generate detailed images in an array of styles, encompassing watercolours, oil and Chinese painting to animation, sketch, flat illustration, and 3D cartoons. Moreover, the model can transform any image into a new one with a similar style and stylize images through style transfer, which preserves the content of the original image while applying the visual style of another picture.

Powered by Alibaba Cloud’s trailblazing technologies in knowledge arrangement, visual AI and natural language processing (NLP), the model leverages multilingual materials for enhanced training. It boasts a robust semantic comprehension capability, resulting in more accurate and contextually relevant image generation.

Additionally, by optimizing the high-resolution diffusion process based on the signal-to-noise ratio, the model can strike a balance between composition accuracy and detail sharpness while enhancing its ability to generate high-contrast, visually stunning images with clean backgrounds.

Tongyi Wanxiang was developed using Composer, Alibaba Cloud’s proprietary large model that enables greater control over the final image output, such as spatial layout and palette, while maintaining image synthesis quality and creativity.

Alibaba Cloud also unveiled ModelScopeGPT (https://modelscope.cn/studios/damo/ModelScopeGPT/), a powerful framework designed to harnesses the power of Large Language Models (LLMs) available on the platform. ModelScopeGPT will use LLMs as a controller to connect an extensive array of domain-specific expert models in the ModelScope open-source community.  Built within the rich Model-as-a-Service ecosystem, ModelScopeGPT leverages the various AI capabilities offered on Alibaba Cloud. Enterprises and developers can leverage ModelScopeGPT for free to access and execute the best-suited models for performing sophisticated AI tasks based on users’ requests, such as developing multilingual videos.

Alibaba Cloud launched its LLM named Tongyi Qianwen in April, and it plans to integrate the LLM across Alibaba’s various businesses in order to improve the user experience in the near future. The company’s customers and developers will also have access to the model to create customized AI features in a cost-effective way. Since the model’s launch, over 300,000 beta testing requests were received from enterprises from a broad range of sectors, including fintech, electronics, transport, fashion and dairy.

Tongyi Qianwen has also been integrated into Alibaba Cloud’s intelligent assistant, Tingwu, enabling the assistant to comprehend and analyze multimedia content with high levels of accuracy and efficiency. Over 360,000 users have accessed to the AI-powered assistant since its launch. 

AI Hackathon Competition to Inspire Innovation 

ModelScope also hosted its first ever AI Hackathon in China to facilitate the industrial applications of AI models, with cash prize awards and funding opportunities from leading venture capital firms as incentives.

From over 300 participating teams, 56 teams made it to the final round. Participants competed for the grand prize on two tracks. One is to innovate upon a large language model to solve a real-life problem. The second is to leverage existing pretrained models to complete an assigned task, such as text-to-image generation or to build an LLM-powered autonomous agent to utilize the right models for specific tasks.

“By hosting competitions and other community events, we want to engage with more developers and entrepreneurs, and to encourage them to bring their ideas to life, unlock productivity, and create more versatile AI tools that transform and shape the future of our industries,” said Jingren Zhou.

Adherence principle of “guardianship” is factor of strength and crucial issue for nation in its religious and worldly affairs

On a large scale, the Yemeni people celebrated the anniversary of ” Wilayah” day, “Eid al-Ghadir”, announcing to the whole world their steadfastness on the true religion, their adherence to and their pride in loyalty to God and His Messenger, Imam Ali, and the flags of guidance.

While Arab regimes and governments are racing to normalize relations with the Jews and Christians, the Yemenis came out with the great and remarkable momentum, in about 100 arenas, renewing loyalty to God, His Noble Messenger, Imam Ali, and the flags of guidance among the believers who took upon themselves the issues and concerns of the nation away from dependence and subordination to its enemies.

They also realize very well that if they do not support God, His Messenger, and the believers among the signs of guidance, then they will fall victim to the alliance of the Jews and Christians, as happens to some leaders of the Arab regimes, led by the Saudi and Emirati regimes, after they turned into tools to implement the agendas of America and Israel at the expense of the Arab and Islamic nation.

The principle of guardianship in Islam represents a great and important principle, and a guarantee for the integrity of the religion’s march, its vitality and effectiveness, and for preserving the nation from penetration, as emphasized by the revolution leader, Sayyed Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, in his speech on the occasion of the anniversary of ” Wilayah” day, “Eid al-Ghadir”.

The revolution leader pointed out that the absence of the principle of guardianship left the Islamic arena in front of the infidels and hypocrites to be a theater for them and their interventions, because the principle of guardianship fortifies the nation.

And he makes it not accept from the unbelievers and the hypocrites their guardianship, control and their interference in its affairs and their control over it, in addition to that it elevates the nation in its purification and awareness to the level of confronting the tyrant and his tools of the unbelievers and hypocrites,

In addition to the many good results that are achieved in the reality of the nation so that its religion is straightened and it follows God’s approach correctly, and it reaps the fruit of its faith in victory, honor and divine support.

The adoption of America officially and politically to spread sedition, immorality, obscenity of homosexuality, crimes and corruption in an unprecedented manner,

The occasion comes within the framework of the terrible war waged by the tyrant, and whoever falls under his jurisdiction, against Islam and Muslims, in this era, through which he carries out the greatest process of deforming human society in order to enslave him and impose his dark mandate on him.

Also, the commemoration of the Day of the Guardianship is an important station in which the believers draw inspiration from the lessons and lessons from the life of Imam Ali in terms of courage and morals, and they follow his fragrant biography, which is full of stances of faith and great exploits.

The occasion is also an opportunity to learn more about the virtues of Imam Ali, peace be upon him, and his virtues mentioned in the Holy Qur’an, the hadiths of the greatest Messenger, and the books of scholars and jurists, in addition to delving into the thought and philosophy he carried in all matters of life, including power, the state and the importance of establishing the truth, and enduring Responsibility, performance of trust, enjoining good and forbidding evil.

The principle of guardianship at the level of the reality of the nation is embodied in the performance of tasks and duties with impartiality and complete sincerity along with compassion, solidarity and good treatment with citizens, following the example of the greatest Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him and his family, and Imam Ali, peace be upon him, who set the most wonderful examples of giving, establishing justice and supporting truth since he was a boy and even assuming the command of the nation.

Believing that victory and glory will only be for those who are in charge of God, His Messenger, and the believers, the Yemenis went out on this occasion with those large crowds in all the free provinces and districts, as they have been doing for centuries.

To express pride in the appointment of Imam Ali, peace be upon him, and the close connection with him, since the connection with him is a connection with the greatest prophet, and because it is the door to reaching the knowledge that the Holy Prophet presented to the nation.

Civil Service: Tomorrow, Saturday, is first official working day, following Eid al-Adha holiday

The Ministry of Civil Service and Insurance has announced to all employees of the units of the state’s administrative apparatus, the public and mixed sectors at the level of the central and local authorities in the provinces that tomorrow, Saturday, the twentieth of Dhu al-Hijjah 1444 AH, corresponding to July 8, 2023 AD, will be the first official working day after the Eid al-Adha holiday.

The ministry stated, in a statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), that the monitoring and performance evaluation sector in the ministry will assign field inspection teams to monitor job discipline in all central and local public service units.

The Ministry of Civil Service urged all central, local public service units and human resources managers to cooperate in facilitating the tasks of the field inspection teams and enabling them to carry out the tasks assigned to them to the fullest.

The Ministry called upon the leadership and staff of the units of the state’s administrative apparatus, the public and mixed sectors to adhere to the official working hours after the blessed Eid Al-Adha holiday 1444 AH to carry out their constitutional and legal job duties and duties entrusted to them with all dedication and sincerity for the service of the country, the citizen and society alike.

Mass events on “Wilayah” day in districts of Sa’ada

Mass events were organized in a number of directorates of Sa’ada province on the anniversary of “Wilayah” Day 1444 AH.

In the districts of Al-Hashwah, Ketaf, Al-Salem, Mejz, Qataber, Ghamr, Razeh and Al-Dhaher, mass events were organized in the presence of a number of state leaders and the local authority in the province, as well as a scholarly, cultural and social presence.
