N.Korea Warns Japan of Satellite Launch

Japan announced that it received a warning from North Korea as they are adamant on releasing a “satellite” in the next few weeks.

Pyongyang informed the Japanese government of its plan to establish a dangerous maritime zone between May 31 and June 11, according to Japan News Agency (Kyodo).

Japanese officials believe the launch related to the ballistic missile, according to a tweet by Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida’s office on Twitter referring to “a ballistic missile that Pyongyang describes as a satellite.” North Korea also informed IMO of its satellite launch plan, according to Japanese broadcaster NHK.

For his part, North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong-un, inspected a temporary committee responsible for preparing for the launch of a military reconnaissance satellite and approved its “future action plan.” North Korea’s proposed satellite launch violates a series of UN Security Council resolutions banning its nuclear and missile programs, as it uses the same technology as ballistic missiles.
