President of Presidential Council discusses with Williams developments of political situation in Libya

Tripoli-President of the Presidential Council Mohamed Al Mnefi discussed on Wednesday with UN Secretary-General’s adviser on Libya, Stephanie Williams political situation in Libya.

The meeting also discussed Williams’ initiative to form a committee from both the House of Representatives and the High Council of State to put in place a constitutional rule for holding elections as soon as possible, to contribute to consensual proposals to resolve the Libyan crisis.

Williams praised Al Mnefi’s efforts to support stability in Libya and stand at a distance from all, stressing that the Mission aim was to promote stability and hold the electoral entitlements.

Head of GNU opens Arab migrants detention camp in Tripoli

Tripoli-The Head of the Government of National Unity Abdul Hamid Al Dabaiba on Wednesday opened the Arab migrants detention camp in Tripoli. The event was attended by the Interior Minister, the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, the Head of the anti-illegal migration service and the Tunisian consul to Libya.

During the opening of camp, Al Dabaiba inspected the facility, as well as training clinics and workshops, the gym, as well as the information center for migrants’ communication with their families.

The Prime Minister attended a football match between the Egyptian team and the Libyan veterans’ team and distributed the prizes to the two teams, expressing his thanks to those who carried out this work, and stressed the need to take care of migrants and provide them with all the conditions appropriate for them.

Japan’s Ambassador to Libya confirms his country’s support for elections in Libya

Tripoli- President of the High National Election Commission Imad Al-Sayeh met Wednesday with Japanese Ambassador to Libya Amadera Masaki.

According to a press release issued by the Commission, Al-Sayeh and the Japanese Ambassador discussed political developments in Libya, and ways to support national efforts to conduct the upcoming elections.

According to the statement, the Japanese Ambassador reiterated his country’s support for the Libyan people’s choices and aspirations, to overcome this stage and move towards a peaceful, stable future, praising Commission’s efforts to achieve free and fair elections that reflect the will of the Libyan voters.

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights calls for Libyan elections to be held in June on the basis of full respect for the political rights of all candidates and voters

Geneva-In her report to the 49th session of the Human Rights Council of the International Organization, held in Geneva, Commissioner Bachelet expressed alarm over ‘postponement of the elections scheduled for December 24, 2021, amid rising political tensions and attacks on people based on perceived opinions, political affiliation, as well as attacks on the judiciary.’

Bachelet, who holds Chilean nationality and has served as the seventh Human Rights Commissioner since September 2018, has criticized armed groups committing serious violations of international humanitarian law, as well as widespread torture, unlawful killings, enforced disappearances, violence, arbitrary arrests and detentions, on a large scale, with near-total impunity, she said.

Libya’s delegate to the United Nations discusses with his Algerian counterpart joint coordination on issues of concern to the two countries

New York- Libya’s representative to the United Nations, “Taher al-Sunni,” met yesterday, Tuesday, with Ambassador “Mohamed Nadhir Arbaoui”, the new representative of the state of Algeria to the United Nations.

Al-Sunni said in a tweet on his Twitter account that the meeting reviewed the latest developments, the current political situation, and ways of coordination and joint work on issues of concern to the two brotherly countries.

“Al-Kabeer” discusses with Assistant Undersecretary of the US State Department “Joey Hood” the resumption of American companies’ activities in Libya

Tripoli- The Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, “Siddiq Al-Kabeer” and his accompanying delegation, discussed with the Assistant Undersecretary of the US State Department, “Joe Hood”, to overcome the difficulties facing American companies resuming their activities in Libya.

The Central Bank said in a statement that the two sides discussed, during the meeting, which was held at the headquarters of the US State Department in Washington, the cooperation programs between the Central Bank of Libya and American institutions, in addition to discussing supporting efforts to independence the Central Bank and the path of its unification.

This meeting comes within the framework of continuous coordination with the US ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland.
