Tripoli: The British newspaper ‘The Guardian’ said that the Libyan authorities are expected to conduct an investigation into accusations related to mismanagement and corruption at the National Oil Corporation.
The newspaper quoted unnamed officials as saying: ‘The rampant smuggling of fuel from Libya contributes to fueling the civil war in Sudan, and the widespread smuggling contributes to supplying the Rapid Support Forces stationed in Sudan and participating in the fighting there.’
According to The Guardian, Mohamed Al-Manfi, President of the Presidential Council, is scheduled to begin investigating these accusations during this week, and the investigation is likely to also include extensive fuel smuggling operations and the main beneficiaries of it.
It is possible that some indirect funds will be transferred to the Wagner Group, which is supported by Russia and was recently named an ‘African Legion unit.’
