QSE Index Closes 0.96 Percent Higher


Doha: Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) general index closed at 9,910.16 points on Sunday, 93.86 points (0.96 percent) higher that its previous closing.

A trading volume of 114,597,418 shares was traded in 9,256 transactions in all sectors, with a total trading value of QR 306,026,424.200.

The prices of 37 companies went up and those of 11 declined, while one company maintained its previous closing price.

The market capitalization closed at QR 575,055,012,610.140 compared to QR 569,637,320,875.180 in the previous session.

QCB Announces Eid Al Fitr Holiday for Financial Institutions


Doha: The Qatar Central Bank (QCB) announced Sunday that, on the occasion of Eid Al Fitr, it has been decided that the holiday for all financial institutions in the State of Qatar will start on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, and will end on Thursday, April 11, 2024. QCB clarified that all financial institutions will resume operations on Sunday, April 14, 2024.

QSE Rises 0.54 Percent at Beginning of Sunday’s Trading Session


Doha: The Qatar Stock Exchange index rose by 0.54 percent at the start of Sunday’s trading session, adding 53.05 points to reach a level of 9869.35 points compared to the previous session’s close, supported by most sectors.

The positive performance of the stock exchange was attributed to the transportation sector, which increased by 1.35 percent, the communications sector by 0.84 percent, the banking and financial services sector by 0.55 percent, the goods and consumer services sector by 0.54 percent, the insurance sector by 0.50 percent, and the industrial sector by 0.31 percent. However, the real estate sector decreased by 0.02 percent.

At 10:00 AM, the QSE recorded transactions worth QR 53.647 million, distributed over 21.427 million shares through 1,595 deals.

Somali President Leaves Jeddah


Jeddah: President of the Federal Republic of Somalia Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud left Jeddah today.

He was seen off at King Abdulaziz International Airport by Governor of Jeddah Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Jalawi and several other officials.

KSrelief Distributes 300 Food Baskets in Nigeria


Kano, Nigeria, The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) distributed food baskets to 300 of the most vulnerable families in Kano State, Nigeria, assisting 1,800 individuals.

The initiative is part of “Etaam” the Ramadan food distribution project for the year 1445 AH in Nigeria. The assistance is an extension of the relief and humanitarian endeavors offered by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through KSrelief, to the numerous vulnerable and afflicted nations globally.

KSrelief to Financially Sponsor 148 Orphans in Aden, Yemen


Aden, In a bid to uplift vulnerable youths, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) said yesterday it was sponsoring financially 148 orphans in Yemen’s Aden Governorate, an initiative that coincides with the Arab Orphan Day, observed annually on the first Friday of April.

The sponsorship program marks the second phase of a broader KSrelief project targeting orphans in eight Yemeni governorates: Aden, Lahj, Hadhramaut, Al-Mahra, Al-Hudaydah, Taiz, Ma’rib, and Al-Jawf.

With a focus on long-term support, the project aims to empower 440 families by creating sustainable job opportunities. This will equip them with a steady source of income, enabling them to secure essential living needs, education, and healthcare.

It aims to mitigate the economic hardship many families face after having lost their breadwinner. By strengthening their financial situation, the project ultimately helps orphans stay enrolled in schools and pursue their education.

School bags will also be distributed to 1,300 o
rphans – both boys and girls – as part of the initiative.

KSrelief intervention builds upon Saudi Arabia’s longstanding commitment to providing humanitarian relief to Yemeni orphans. This comprehensive program aims to improve their living conditions, alleviate their suffering, and pave the way for a brighter future.
