Presidential Council Spokesperson reviews prominent decisions and actions taken by the Council since it took office in March.

Tripoli, The Presidency Council has worked since taking office in March to establish Libya’s first presidential office to be a ready institution for the first head of state to be elected in the future, a spokeswoman for the Presidential Council said.

On the most prominent decisions taken by the Presidential Council, Najwa Wahiba explained in a report that the Council established the National Commission for Reconciliation, launched community dialogues, especially with young people, and worked with the Ministry of Justice and the Joint Military Commission to release detainees and prisoners, to achieve reconciliation and made efforts to unify institutions across the country, especially the central bank and the military institution, and its decisions were taken unanimously.

Wahiba pointed out that the Presidential Council, as commander-in-chief of the army, has offered concrete cooperation with the military committee to open the coastal highway, and developed a plan to withdraw mercenaries and foreign fighters simultaneously and discussed this when it required political visits by the President of the Council Mohammed Al Mnefi and his deputies Musa al-Koni and Abdullah al-Lafi.

In her report, Wahiba referred to the council’s calls for Europe to change its strategy of dealing with illegal migration, focusing on the Sahara countries rather than the Sahel, and calling on the legislature and the institutions concerned to act real and quickly to fix the flaws in the electoral process, and to hold simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections as soon as possible.
