President discusses with German ambassador developments of the political scene in Libya.

Tripoli, The President of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Manfi, discussed , Tuesday, with the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Libya, Michael Unmacht, and his accompanying delegation, the latest developments in the political scene in Libya, including the file of the elections to be held next December and Libya’s participation in the international conference that will be held during the next two days in Paris on preparations for holding elections with the participation of countries seeking to stabilize Libya.

The sources of the Presidential Council stated that the President praised the positive role of Germany towards the Libyan file, through the Berlin meetings (1 and 2) and its presentation of effective proposals to achieve stability in Libya.

For his part, the German ambassador praised the efforts of the Presidential Council in unifying state institutions, launching the national reconciliation project, and continuing to push for holding elections on time to achieve the aspirations of the Libyan people and handing over the country to a president elected by the people.

The ambassador pointed out that the Paris Conference on Peace in Libya is an extension of the Berlin Conference in its first and second editions, confirming that German Chancellor Angela Merkel will attend the conference.
