America and the UN commend the meeting of the 5+5 committee and the military and security leaders in Benghazi.

The USA and the UN commended the meeting of the 5+5 Joint Military Committee and the security and military leaders in Benghazi.

This came during a phone conversration by the U.S. Special Envoy to Libya, Richard Norland, with the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily.

Norland said in a tweet “It’s a pleasure to speak today with Bathily. I thanked him for his efforts to promote national consensus towards elections in Libya.

“We commended the military and security leaders who met together in Benghazi to reaffirm their commitment to Libya’s sovereignty and political stability through elections and the departure of foreign fighters, forces, and mercenaries.” He added.

The joint military committee (5 + 5) and the military and security leaders concluded their meeting in Benghazi, where it was emphasized that all forms of support would be provided to secure the elections.
