Nova news agency reveals that Libya and Italy may sign agreements in the fields of security, energy and infrastructure.

The Italian Nova News Agency revealed that Italy and Libya may sign four or five agreements on the occasion of the visit of the head of the government of national unity, Abdul Hamid al-Dabaiba, to the Italian capital, Rome, from tomorrow, Wednesday, until Thursday, June 8.

Nova reported that a memorandum of understanding is likely to be signed dealing with security and combating irregular migration not only by sea, but also by land in the Sahara desert.

She added that there is another agreement related to reducing carbon dioxide emissions, a sector in which Libya is still somewhat lagging behind and could witness progress thanks to the cooperation between the Libyan National Oil Corporation and Eni, noting that surprises may occur from the infrastructure sector, especially in Internet connectivity.

The Italian agency stated that the Libyan delegation, which includes many government ministers, will assess various other files of common interest, foremost of which is the construction of the “highway of peace” linking eastern and western Libya, which is an infrastructure project that was agreed upon in the Treaty of Friendship, Partnership and Cooperation that it signed. Italy and Libya in Benghazi on August 30, 2008, in addition to the file of the possibility of reopening airlines between Italy and Libya, which in turn is linked to the reconstruction of the international airport in Tripoli by the Italian “ENIS” consortium.

With regard to the issue of immigration, a draft memorandum of understanding between the Italian and Libyan Ministries of the Interior, which Nova received from Libyan sources, stipulated in its first article the “exchange of information and experiences in the field of combating” human trafficking, as well as the “continuation of training” Libyan Coast Guard officers, according to a mechanism to be agreed upon later.

The draft memorandum, which is still under negotiation and review, also includes “continuing delivery of ships and marine equipment to Libya,” as well as “conducting joint exercises at sea and providing technical and logistical support to the Libyan Coast Guard Command,” including “unmanned aerial vehicles, radio communication equipment, and cameras.” and tracking devices.

The draft agreement also provides for “reviewing special security measures to protect Libya’s southern borders and monitoring desert routes used by illegal immigrants to coastal cities.”

According to Nova, the agreement will enter into force on the date of signing it, and its duration will be three years, and it can be extended automatically for the same period (3 years) in the absence of an objection from one of the parties.

The Search, Investigation and Arrest Committee of the Zuwara Security Directorate raided a house used by a group of human smugglers to detain a number of immigrants.

The Directorate said in a statement on its official Facebook page that information had been received indicating that a group of human smugglers had detained a number of immigrants inside a house in the city. The necessary measures were immediately taken and the site investigated.

The Directorate confirmed that the house intended to accommodate immigrants was raided by the Directorate’s Search, Investigation and Arrest Committee and members of the police stations after obtaining permission from the Public Prosecution Office, where more than forty immigrants of Arab and African nationalities were seized.

A number of suspects were also arrested for bringing them and facilitating their emigration in return for sums of money, according to the directorate’s statement.

UNICEF warns of not providing water to the children of Libya in the near future.

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) warned against not providing water to Libyan children in the near future.

In a statement on the occasion of World Environment Day, the organization expressed its concern about the lack of water for the children of Libya in the near future, as Libya ranks sixth in the world in terms of water scarcity.

The organization called for the need to develop a comprehensive water strategy to address its scarcity, invest in renewable solutions, and cooperate with youth to accelerate the pace of climate action.

UNICEF also affirmed that it and its partners stand by Libya and the youth in this journey.

Fourth conference of laboratory medicine in Capital launched

The fourth laboratory medicine conference organized by the Ministry of Public Health and Population, represented by the National Center for Central Health Laboratories, began on Tuesday.

The conference which is held under the slogan “Quality and Efficiency of Medical Laboratories, Gateway to a Safe Future”, from 6-8 June aims to advance laboratory medicine academically and professionally.

The conference also aims to raise the level of comprehensive quality in laboratories and raise community awareness of the importance of laboratory medicine.

The conference will discuss 24 research papers submitted by researchers from Yemen, Britain, the Netherlands, America, Malaysia, Egypt, Jordan and China.

Minister of Public Health and Population Dr. Taha al-Mutawakil stressed the importance of adopting medical scientific hours in the laboratory conference, which are recorded in the Supreme Medical Council.

Al-Mutawakil pointed out that the aggression tried to separate the medical and health sector from the new scientific developments in this vital field, but the laboratory sector was able to keep up with the new equipment, and all the world’s findings in laboratory medicine.

He pointed out that laboratory medicine is making great strides in the scientific field by establishing scientific programs for its cadres through studying and obtaining scientific ranks such as a master’s degree and a Yemeni fellowship.

Al-Mutawakil indicated that the scientific movement should be opened for specialists in laboratory medicine to continue their academic education, masters, fellowship and doctorate.

He explained that the world has not developed except through scientific research, and we must focus on what others have concluded, especially nanotechnology and stem cells, and the advancement of laboratory medicine, which proves day after day the efficiency of laboratory medical cadres with their scientific and practical presence.

The minister stressed the importance of quality in providing laboratory medical services, and that modern equipment should be accompanied by efficiency in diagnosis by searching for the correct realistic results and not the results of dry devices.
