Shaikh Mohamed Bin Abdullah becomes BRCS Chairman

The Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS) held its regular general assembly for the sixth session.

Lieutenant General Dr. Shaikh Mohamed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa was endorsed unanimously as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Society.

Ali Murad was endorsed as the Vice Chairman, Khalil bin Mohammed Al Muraikhi as the Second Vice Chairman, Mubarak Khalifa Al Hadi as the Secretary-General, and Hassan Mohammed Juma as the Financial Secretary.

The membership of Taqi Mohammed Al Baharna, Dr. Faisal Radhi Al Moussawi, Dr. Fawzi Abdullah Amin, Dr. Maryam Ibrahim Al Hajri, and Dr. Kawthar Mohammed Al Eid was also confirmed.

The Board of Directors Vice Chairman Ali Mohammed Murad conveyed the society’s gratitude to the Lieutenant General for accepting to chair the Society’s seventeenth session.

Murad praised Dr. Shaikh Mohamed bin Abdullah’s contribution to BRCS and hailed its continued efforts to provide aid in various areas of humanitarian work.

He highlighted the role of the late His Highness Shaikh Abdullah bin Khalid Al Khalifa, who chaired BRCS from 1969 to 2018.

He applauded the efforts of Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa during his presidency of the fifteenth and sixteenth electoral cycles from 2018 to 2023.

The lieutenant general presented the “Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa Medal for Medical Merit” to twenty Society employees and volunteers for their outstanding efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The aid distribution team for Ramadan was also recognized, along with the heads of committees and members of the Bahrain Bikers team who participated in distributing aid to families in need.

HEC Secretary-General, Strathclyde University Principal discuss cooperation

Secretary-General and Higher Education Council (HEC) Deputy Chairperson Dr. Shaikha Rana bint Isa bin Daij Al Khalifa received the University of Strathclyde Principal and Vice-Chancellor Professor Sir Jim McDonald.

The meeting discussed ways to enhance cooperation and affirmed the secretary-general’s keenness to improve partnerships between local higher education institutions and their international counterparts to enhance the Kingdom’s higher educational role.

The Chancellor praised the secretary-general’s support towards higher education institutions and advancing the higher education system in Bahrain.
