The Prime Minister meets the Board of Directors of the Telecom Holding Company and its subsidiaries

Tripoli- The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, “Abdul Hamid Al-Dabaiba” met this Sunday afternoon with the Board of Directors of the Telecommunication Holding Company and its subsidiaries, during his visit to the headquarters of the General Post, Telecommunications and Information Technology Company, as part of his inspection tours of ministries and institutions.

The media office of the Prime Minister stated that the president of the general assembly held an expanded meeting that included the management committee of the holding company, and the heads of the management committees of the affiliated companies.

In his speech during the meeting, Al-Dabaiba stressed the need for competition to be open to all telecommunications companies, and to end the state of monopoly, and this has become an inevitable reality.

He also stressed the need to develop the sector in all fields, including postal addressing, and to contribute with the Libyan people to support the elections technically and financially so that it can achieve its campaign.

During the meeting, the President listened to some technical and administrative notes from company managers, and gave his instructions for the necessity of developing a purposeful plan to support the private sector in the field of telecommunications and to involve it in this field.

The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity meets the Tunisian Ambassador to Libya

Tripoli, 17 April, 2022 (Lana) – The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdel Hamid Dabaiba, met this evening, Saturday, in Tripoli, the Tunisian ambassador accredited to Libya.

During the meeting, which was attended by the Head of Counter-Terrorism Major General Mohamed El-Zein, they discussed ways to intensify security coordination, and the role of the Tunisian embassy in organizing a number of technical meetings between the security services between the two countries.

The Information Office of the Prime Minister of the National Unity Government said that it was agreed to coordinate a meeting between the Libyan and Tunisian interior ministers to organize the movement of ports and border crossings between the two countries.

Protesters announce suspension of oil exports from The Elephant field and Zueitina port

Tripoli, 17 April, 2022 (Lana) – Citizens from the south of Libya and the municipality of Zueitina – Sultan announced the suspension of production and export of oil from The Elephant field in Ubari, and from the Zueitina port in the Oil Crescent region, as of, Saturday, April 16, in protest against not enabling the government chosen by The House of Representatives to assume power in the capital, Tripoli, and the National Oil Corporation transfer of oil revenues to the Government of National Unity.

The protesters demanded, in two separate statements, on behalf of the people and notables in the two regions, to ensure the equitable distribution of oil resources between the cities, and regions of Libya equally to ensure stability and development clearly, and to support the competent authorities to conduct the upcoming elections.

They also demanded the dismissal of the head of the National Oil Corporation, Mustafa Sanalla, the correction of the legal status of its board of directors away from political squabbles, and the support of the corporation with the budget required to raise oil production rates as required.

They stressed the support of the security and military services to maintain security and freedom of movement between Libyan cities and regions to reach free and fair elections, and to stop foreign interference in Libyan affairs, calling on the international community and ambassadors to respect the sovereignty of the state and its institutions and to be a contributor to the stability of the country.

No statement was issued by the Ministry of Oil and Gas or the National Oil Corporation to deny or confirm the validity of what was stated in the two statements regarding stopping the export of oil from the field and the port.

National Oil Corporation declares force majeure on the Elephant oil field due to a production halt

Tripoli- The National Oil Corporation (NOC) has announced a state of force majeure on the Elephant oil fields and the suspension of Mellita crude until further notice.

The corporation said in a statement on its SMS page that the Elephant oil field on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at 18:30 was subjected to attempts of forced closure, after a group of individuals entered the fields and brought production to a halt, which led to the suspension of production in the field, and made it impossible for the NOC to meet its contractual obligations.

In its statement, the NOC said it regretted the move and demanded that the language of reason and wisdom prevail and that the oil sector be spared conflicts to preserve the remaining and already dilapidated infrastructure, caused by random closures, as well as scarcity of budgets over the past years.
