General Board for Identification of Missing: Hundreds of Libyans are Missing Following war Crimes in Tarhuna and Southern Tripoli Areas.

Tarhuna, 27 Mass graves left behind by the invading forces during the war on Tripoli between 2019 -2020 have been discovered in Tarhuna, the latest was one found in the rubbish site in the city, an official body said.

The General Board for Identification of Missing GBIM said search for mass graves has yielded the discovery of bodies of men and women, in horrific scenes which revealed the ugliness of the war crimes committed in the country.

Hundreds of Libyans were missing as a result of the war crimes in Tarhuna, and southern areas of the capital Tripoli during the period from April 2019 to June 2020, it said.

The Board said the number of bodies retrieved from mass braves in different sites have reached 3560, while the number of specimen taken from their next of kin was 14000 kept in a data base of relatives.

GBIM said, through its chairman Kamal Al Siwei, that it was carrying on with the work assigned to it, including search and information gathering, in a bid to alleviate the suffering of families of the missing, who had to live the agony of being unable to identify their missing loved ones.

It said it was working on a plan to provide technical support to determine locations and identities of missing persons and to determine their destinies.

The UN fact-finding mission said it has got evidence of massacres being committed in Tarhuna between 2016 and 2020.

The Head of the mission Mohamed Ojar said in a press conference on Monday ‘investigations has concluded that parties to the conflict and mercenaries had violated the international humanitarian law by recruiting children to the conflict, and that they had evidence to support these claims.

Ojar said the mission has focused, in its first visit, on Tripoli and its suburbs, and that Benghazi would be the target of the second visit, to complete investigations which would be submitted to the UN Security Council.

Minister of Interior honours a number of retired police officers.

Tripoli, A number of retired police officers were honored at the Ministry of Interior for their efforts throughout their work in the “security institution.”

The Ministry’s Media Department stated that the Minister of Interior, Khaled Mazen, honoured retired brigadier general Ali al-Mahdi al-Senussi, retired brigadier general Arhouma al-Sariz, retired brigadier general Mohammed Mukhtar Mazen, retired brigadier general Said Najm, retired brigadier general Jalal.Ghaith Al-Zlitni, who spent most of their lives serving their country and citizens.

Foreign Affairs Committee of House of Representatives stresses importance of resuming voluntary return flights for immigrants.

Tripoli, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives, Yousef Al-Aqoury met with the Minister of Interior Khaled Mazen at the Ministry’s office in Tripoli to discussed work on resuming voluntary return flights for migrants to alleviate human suffering as a result of overcrowding in shelters.

Minister of Interior affirmed the ministry’s keenness to respect the basic rights of immigrants. The meeting also dealt with the needs of the National Safety Authority and benefiting from international support programmes in border management.

The start of the meetings of the Joint Military Committee (5+5) in Geneva to develop an action plan for the withdrawal of mercenaries, foreign fighters and foreign forces from Libya.

Geneva, The meetings of the Joint Military Committee (5+5) started in Geneva today, Wednesday, to discuss the development of a comprehensive action plan for the withdrawal of mercenaries, foreign fighters and foreign forces from Libya.

The UN mission said in a statement that the meeting is facilitated by the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, and is held in accordance with the ceasefire agreement concluded on October 23, 2020 and relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

The UN mission pointed out that this meeting also comes within the framework of the UN mission’s efforts to make progress in the Libyan security track in parallel with the international efforts made in the context of the Berlin Conference on Libya.

In his opening speech, the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, Jan Kubis, expressed his appreciation to both delegations and international partners who support this effort, saying: “As usual, your mission is greater than its military and security aspects; your mission has a direct impact on the overall developments in the country, and for the country to restore its sovereignty, stability, security and unity.

Kubis added, “Everyone realizes the importance of this meeting, which is being held for the sake of the country, and everyone also realizes that if you manage to agree and agree on this plan of action, you will send a message, not only to the political leaders and institutions in the country, but it is also a message of hope.” To your people that progress can be made, including moving towards elections that are expected to bring about change in all the institutions and authorities of the country based on solid popular legitimacy.”

The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) emphasized national ownership and leadership of the military, security, political, and economic tracks as essential tools to support Libyans in restoring their sovereignty.

The mission commended the spirit of patriotism and the commitment shown by the members of the Joint Military Committee (5 + 5), and urged them to seize this opportunity to develop the action plan required for the withdrawal of mercenaries, foreign fighters and foreign forces, a plan that will also guide the support provided by the international community to Libyan efforts towards unifying the army. As well as efforts for disarmament, demobilization and reintegration and security sector reform in Libya, with the consequent impact on the stability of the region.

NCDC Registers 692 New CoronaVirus Cases, 1324 Recoveries, 10 Deaths.

Tripoli, The National Centre for Disease Control ‘NCDC’ said Wednesday it recorded 692 new CoronVirus cases, 1324 recoveries and 10 deaths in the last 24 hours.

The Centre said it received Thursday 4906 specimen on Tuesday, of which 4102 specimen turned out to be negative, 692 positive, the ratio of positive cases was 14.4%.

This brings to 343932 the number of CoronaVirus cases in Libya, of which 72864 active cases, 266348 recoveries, and 4720 deaths since the outbreak of the pandemic in Libya in March 2020.

Council of Ministers of Government of National Unity issues Resolution regarding designation of Urban and Rural Development and Reconstruction Authority.

Tripoli, the Council of Ministers of the Government of National Unity issued Resolution No. 438 /2021 that the executive body for the development of the regions and oil projects shall be subject to the Council of Ministers.

The second article of the resolution stipulated that the executive body for the development of the regions and oil projects be renamed as the Urban and Rural Development and Reconstruction Agency.
