Williams stresses need to achieve a 30% percentage of women’s participation in political process

Tripoli – Adviser to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Stephanie Williams, stressed on Wednesday the need to achieve a 30% rate on women’s participation in the political process.

In a tweet on her Twitter account, Williams said during her meeting with the leader of the National Pact Party, Intissar Ben Achour, that women have an important role to play in decision-making and national reconciliation.

The UN advisor added that she discussed with Ben Achour and her colleagues Omar Al-Khouja, Ghufran Buyuk and Amal Souissi importance of the role of political parties, stressing that they also discussed during the meeting the participation of women in the Libyan political process. “I enjoyed briefing about the challenges facing political parties, including those related to party registration and voter education,” she said.
