Williams sends a warning message to political obstructionists through the use of force, saying (it’s over – enough is enough)

Cairo-The UN Secretary-General’s Special Adviser on Libya Stephanie Williams addressed members of the Constitutional Process Committee of the House of Representatives and the High Council of State that this latest round of committee meetings comes at a critical juncture in Libya, after 11 years of division, vulnerability, conflict, chaos and polarization, which has strained Libyans.

‘You have a real opportunity and a truly great responsibility to revive their hope and give them a path leading to elections within a strong constitutional framework, the UN envoy told participants at the opening of the last session of the Constitutional Track Committee today in Cairo. She pointed out that the members of the committee are responsible for working together to prepare a solid constitutional framework that will enable the country to organize elections and meet the aspirations of 2.8 million Libyan citizens who registered to vote for their representatives in the presidential and legislative elections.

Libyans are eagerly awaiting tangible results from you, and a solid consensus on a constitutional framework that would pave the way for transparent elections to be held within the shortest possible time frame, and they could not wait any longer, she said, stressing that the continuation of this current stalemate must end, and that the people of Libya and the people of your constituencies must be able to exercise their democratic right to vote in national general elections for the first time in eight years.

“My message is clear to the obstructionists and those who want to disrupt this delicate political process through the use of force, you must stop, and you must put aside your weapons and stop intimidating civilian populations… enough is enough.
