Tripoli- The United States of America, through its embassy in Libya, regretted the statement issued yesterday by the Prime Minister’s spokesperson, which indicated that the Special Adviser to the Secretary-General, Stephanie Williams, showed bias.
In a statement, Thursday, the US Embassy said, “There has been no international government employee more fair and meticulous than Stephanie Williams in bringing all Libyan voices together around the negotiating table in an effort to restore stability in Libya.”
The embassy added that “the approach of the Special Adviser and the United Nations Support Mission in Libya to the current circumstances is consistent with the basic principles of UN Security Council resolutions and the outcomes of international meetings on Libya.”
The US Embassy affirmed that the United States shares the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) focus on helping Libyans establish a credible timetable for elections as soon as possible in line with the aspirations of the Libyan people.
