UK Ambassador To Libya In Article: ‘Libyans Were Clear, There Should Be No Foreign Military Presence In Their Country.’

Tripoli, British Ambassador to Libya Nicholas Hopton underscored importance of putting in place the constitutional basis for holding the Libyan elections on Dec. 24, indicating that he will be discussing the issue with a wide range of Libyans groups in the coming weeks.

In an article, the Ambassador wrote in ‘Foreign Commonwealth Development Office’, he said ‘progress should be seen in implementing the ceasefire.’

‘Libyans have been clear there should be no foreign military presence in Libya, and we have to respect their demands.

‘While recognizing the challenges that have to be overcome, I think progress, against all odds, can be made, Libyan people deserves no less, he added.

Hopton noted that ‘the agreed budget will allow start of work to make life better for all Libyans, adding ‘this is urgent particularly in regard to electricity, we are in the hot Summer months.’
