The Coordinator of the United Nations Mission in Libya discusses with the delegation of the Libyan Senate for Reconciliation efforts and proposals to resolve the Libyan crisis

Tripoli- The Libyan Senate for Reconciliation has expressed its concerns about the current political situation and its impact on the lives of the Libyan people throughout the country.

This came during a meeting held by a delegation from the Council today, Sunday, with the acting head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya and the coordinator of the mission, “Resdon Zeninga,” according to what was published on the mission’s website.

During the meeting, the delegation stressed that elections, which should be held within six months, are the only solution to the Libyan crisis, stressing the need to renew efforts for national reconciliation through the social track.

During their meeting with “Resdon Zeninga”, the council delegation presented proposals to solve the political blockage related to the executive authority, through solutions rooted in Libyan customs and traditions, according to what the mission published.

Assistant Secretary-General Zeninga welcomed their efforts and proposals, stressing that the United Nations is committed to holding elections in accordance with a constitutional basis and a legal framework as soon as possible.
