President of Anti-Corruption Authority stresses need to support efforts of Standards, Metrology and Quality Control Authority

The head of the Supreme National Authority for Combating Corruption, Judge Mujahid Ahmed Abdullah, affirmed the authority’s keenness to support the efforts made by the Yemeni Organization for Standardization, Metrology and Quality Control.

This came during his meeting today with the Director General of the Yemeni Organization for Standardization, Metrology and Quality Control, Eng. Sam Ahmed Al-Bashiri, in the presence of the Vice-President of the Anti-Corruption Authority, Raydan Muhammad Al-Mutawakel.

Judge Mujahid pointed out the importance of the oversight role played by the Standards and Metrology Authority on commodities and products in order to ensure their quality and to preserve the safety and health of citizens and protect the consumer from adulterated goods that harm the national economy, and to ensure that adulterated and non-conforming goods are not allowed to reach the market.

The head of the Supreme National Authority for Combating Corruption also affirmed the authority’s readiness to support the efforts of the Standards Authority and coordinate with it in accordance with the laws in force, in order to enable it to activate its oversight role.

For his part, the Director General of the Standards, Metrology and Quality Control Authority reviewed the efforts and activities implemented by the authority to ensure the quality of goods and products and food safety for the consumer.

He considered the authority the first line of defense for the consumer, pointing to the challenges that the authority faces.

Al-Bashiri provided an update on his job data after his appointment as Director General of the Yemeni Authority for Standardization, Metrology and Quality Control, which was added to his fourth declaration of financial disclosure with the Supreme National Authority for Combating Corruption.
