Parliament Delegation Arrives in Vienna for World Conference of Speakers of Parliament and Parliamentary Summit on Combating Terrorism.

Tobruk, The Libyan Parliament delegation has arrived in Vienna to take part in the 5th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament and the 1st Global Parliamentary Summit on Combating Terrorism.

According the Parliament Official Spokesman Abdullah Bleiheg the delegation was led by First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Fuzi Al Nweiri, and included Second Deputy Hmaid Huma, Member of Parliament Rabia Buras, and Head of Parliament Office Abdullah Al Masri.

The conference being held under the theme ‘Parliaments for Peace, People and Planet’, is discussing several topics including an international charter for equality between men and women, curbing effect of Covid 19 on democracy and world governance.

The Parliament delegation is taking part in the first summit on terrorism to be held with collaboration between the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the United Nations, to discuss parliamentary response for support of victims of terrorism, and role of parliaments in curbing extremism inclination and hate speech, as well as a call for saving the African Sahel region from spread of terrorism.

The World Conference of Speakers of Parliament is held every 5 years, and aims to promote the parliamentary dimension of world governance, and exchange of expertise in legislative evolution area.
