Over 50 Pakistan Women Lend Their Support to Pilgrims in Saudi Arabia

Over 50 Pakistan women of diverse professional backgrounds are serving and providing important support to Pakistani pilgrims in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, testimony to their country’s growing recognition of Pakistani women’s roles.

The women at the Pakistan Hajj Mission showcase their expertise and dedication, and play an important role in ensuring a smooth and fulfilling experience for pilgrims on their sacred journey.

These women serve in various sections at the Mission’s Main Control Office (MCO) in Makkah; they assist and guide pilgrims at various exit points from the Grand Mosque. Among them, women doctors and paramedics play a significant role in offering free medical assistance to pilgrims.

Deputy Director of Complaints and Discipline at MCO Makakh Mehreen Baloch told the Associated Press of Pakistan that the Hajj mission for 2023 is an elaborately organized endeavor of vast scope, adding that women are actively contributing to the meticulously planned Hajj mission as muavineen e hujjaj (female assistants to pilgrims).

Over 34,000 women from Pakistan are performing Hajj this year, and the muavineen e hujjaj are of great help.
