Occupied Jerusalem Governorate Affirms Muslims’ Exclusive Rights to Al-Aqsa Mosque, Rejects Israel’s Disinformation Schemes

The blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, in its entirety, is an exclusive right of Muslims, Jerusalem Governorate said on Sunday, dismissing all Israeli occupation measures against it as null and rejected by uncompromising Palestinian people and both Arab and Islamic nations.

In a statement carried by Palestinian News Agency (WAFA), Jerusalem Governorate said that Israeli occupation’s unrelented crimes of violating the sanctity of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and aggression on its historic and legal status would not impose a new fait accompli, no matter what the sacrifices cost.

The custodianship over Jerusalem and the holy sites, including the exclusive right of the Jerusalem Waqf to manage all the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque affairs, is the main reference, the statement read, alluding to a 2013 agreement between the Palestinian Authority and King Abdullah II of Jordan that acknowledged Jordan’s custodianship of the holy sites in Jerusalem.

The statement slammed Israeli Foreign Ministry’s call for Jordan’s Ministry of Awqaf Islamic Affairs and Holy Places to empty the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque from worshippers as a new form of Israel’s deception and violation of all norms, laws and historical rights in Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The Palestinian people have the right to access, perform i’tikaaf (seclusion), and pray in Al-Aqsa, the statement reiterated, warning against the Israeli occupation-linked media outlets’ campaigns that mislead facts, triggering some to issue statements that falsely equate the victim and the executioner.
