Morocco receives the presidency of the Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly and discusses the situation in Libya

GENEVA- The Speaker of the Moroccan House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi Alami, who assumed the presidency of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean yesterday, Wednesday, met with the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Mezzola, in the presence of the Vice-President, Pina Bicernau. And several European Parliament officials, and the meeting touched on many Mediterranean issues, foremost of which is the security situation in the Sahel region, and the peace process in Libya.

This came on the sidelines of the ceremony of taking over the presidency, where he presented, as the new president of this Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly, the political priorities of the Moroccan presidency in addition to its schedule of activities, which aims to contribute to providing the Union with sustainable development solutions that directly affect thousands of people, including women mainly, and can have tangible results on the ground, especially in light of the current Ukrainian crisis, he said priority will be given to sustainable development, water, environment, economy and energy.

The Euro-Mediterranean Parliament was established in Naples on the 3rd of December 2003, by a decision of the Ministerial Conference of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership.
