Ministry of Oil: The Council of Ministers of the Organization of “OPEC” decides to write off Libya’s debts

Tripoli, 13 December, 2022 (LANA) – The Council of Ministers of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) has decided to write off the accumulated debts owed by the State of Libya, estimated at about 20 million Libyan dinars.

This came during the participation of the Minister of Oil and Gas, Mohammed Aoun, accompanied by the representative of Libya to the Executive Council of the Organization, Counselor Adel Jibril, in the 109th meeting of the “OPEC” Council of Ministers in the State of Kuwait, the organization’s headquarters.

The Ministry of Oil stated in a post on its Facebook account today that the Libyan delegation provided an explanation of the circumstances of the accumulated debts, and a decision was taken to drop them.

During the meeting, decisions were taken regarding many issues, including approving the organization’s budget for the next year, discussing work to re-study the organization’s charter, and working to upgrade it to an organization that deals with all energies, including renewable energies, according to the Ministry’s publication.
