Doha: The training workshop on combating human trafficking that was organized by the Ministry of Interior (MoI) in collaboration the US Department of Homeland Security’s Human Trafficking Center (Regional Training in the Middle East) wrapped up on Tuesday.
The two-day workshop brought together 50 officers from a variety of the MoI departments to address issues related to combating trafficking in persons and offering the opportunity for the participants to internalize further skills and experiences in this field.
The workshop tackled a broad range of topics, including exploring strategies and techniques for combating human trafficking, investigating suspected cases of human trafficking, basics of victim assistance, intelligence resources and capabilities, and the use of digital evidence to support investigations.
During the event, head of Anti-Human Trafficking Unit at the Criminal Investigation Department Major Abdullah Rashid Al Khayarin delivered a lecture which discussed the units functions and purview,
along with its role in combating this crime, mechanism of operation from the moment of receiving reported crimes, until handling and filing them to the Public Prosecution and ultimately enforcing the measures rendered by the Public Prosecution pertaining to these reported crimes.
Following the lecture, Director of the Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Interior, Brigadier Abdullah Saqr Al Muhannadi honored the lecturers and handed over certificates to all participants. He lauded the efforts lecturers have made over the two past days who imparted their experiences to the participants.
For his part, Director of the Police Officers Institute at the Police Academy, Colonel Naif Mohammed Al Mana’i said the workshop unequivocally met the requirements of the MoI pertaining to the issues of combating human trafficking. He highlighted that US Department of Homeland Security’s Human Trafficking Center is one of the renowned centers globally and has good reputation in the training field which and had significa
ntly nurtured the workshop.
Al Mana’i pointed out that the police officers institute gives foremost priorities to the timely and professional training sessions that meet the training requirements of all MoI departments with their multiple specialties.
