Minister of Social Affairs issues decides to review legislation on people with disabilities in Libya.

Tripoli, The 3rd of December coincides with the World Day for People with Disabilities which was designated by the UN a global day to support people with disabilities and to increase understanding of the need to engage them in the various walks of life in their countries, and to ensure that they incorporated in political, economic and cultural life as citizens with full rights.

In conjunction with this occasion, the Minister of Social Affairs of the Government of National Unity decided to form a committee to review legislation on persons with disabilities in Libya, enshrined in law No. 5 of 1987.

The Minister’s decision provided for a proposal to amend and develop Law No. 5 of 1987, in line with the global perspective based on rights, in accordance with international standards and the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
