Libya International Investment and Trade Conference kicked off in Obari under the slogan “Towards the South” with Arab and international participation.

Obari, Under patronage of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture the Libya International Investment and Trade Conference got underway in Obari on Friday with Arab and international participation under the slogan “Southward.”

The conference was attended by mayors of The Municipalities of Obari, Al-Bwanis and Al-Ghreifa, representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Trade, the Union of Industry in Libya, institutions, Government bodies, businessmen and investors from Libya and from several European and Arab countries.

In the opening speeches of the conference, a number of municipal officials welcomed the participants, stressing that it would be an opportunity to highlight the natural resources of southern Libya and the importance of investing in them.

In their speeches, the mayors stressed the need to benefit from the geographical location of southern Libya, as a link and gateway between the north of Libya and countries of the Sahara and from there to the Mediterranean.

The chairman of the preparatory committee of the conference Muftah Omar Abusta told the Libyan News Agency that the participants in the conference began to present their papers within the themes of the conference, which includes the cornerstone of development investments within Libya and its geographical and regional surroundings, renewable energies, mining, agriculture, tourism, real estate investment, infrastructure and free zones. .

The papers and interventions called on businessmen, investors and international companies to invest in the south, to make use of natural resources and energy, and explore the prospects for cooperation and investment in southern Libya, the gateway to Africa, especially in the transit trade.

Sources of the committee said that participants will complete discussion of the conference’s themes at the Bab al-Bahr Hotel in Tripoli.on Saturday.
