In the presence of (Batili), the international contact group on Libya holds a meeting in Washington

Tripoli– The International Contact Group on Libya will hold a meeting in Washington today, Thursday, in the presence of representatives of America, Britain, France, Germany and Italy, and representatives of Qatar, the Emirates, Turkey and Egypt.

Al-Quds Al-Araibi newspaper quoted diplomatic sources as saying that the UN envoy Abdullah Batili and representatives of Qatar, the UAE, Turkey and Egypt will attend the meeting, which will be held on Thursday.

The international contact group includes ambassadors and special envoys to Libya of the United States, the United Kingdom and France, as well as Italy and Germany, in addition to Egypt and Turkey, which are the countries most involved in the Libyan file.

Prior to the meeting, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that it is important to move to the electoral stage as soon as possible so that the government enjoys legitimacy and is elected by the people.

On Tuesday, the UN envoy to Libya, Abdullah Batili, arrived in the United States to brief the Security Council on the situation in Libya on February 27, after his last briefing last December.
