In a letter to the UN Mission: Al Dbeiba demands adoption of June 30th as date for the parliamentary elections

Tripoli-The Head of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Al Dbeiba, called on the UN support Mission in Libya to adopt the constitutional rule of elections in accordance with the timetable of the Government’s announced plan and called on the UN Mission to adopt the June 30 as a date for parliamentary elections, regardless of the challenges and circumstances out of respect for the Libyans’ wishes.

In a letter to the UN mission, Al-Dbeiba stressed the need to set a specific date for the committee formed by the House of Representatives and the High Council of State, add national figures to it, and to consider its results binding and final, in order to ensure that they come out and work without pressure or delay from parties that have delayed the electoral entitlement. “We are continuing to hold elections at the end of June out of respect for the will of the Libyan people,” he said.
