EU Foreign Affairs Representative: Elections in Libya Need Law Which Determines Authorities of Elected President and Parliament.’

Brussels, EU Special Representative of Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrel said ‘what elections in Libya need is a law which determine authorities of the elected president and the parliament.’

“The EU appreciates the difficulties facing holding of elections in Libya, Borrel said in a statement, adding that ‘there may be excuses that are acceptable for delaying the elections, but the role of the EU is to push for holding them as soon as possible, though he said the process cannot be conducted in an improvised way.’

The EU official said ‘in spite of the weak political process, the EU has to push for real implementation of agreements and holding of elections to restore stability to the country.
