Dialogue session on the National Council for Libyan Women.

The Association of Libyan Diplomats, in cooperation with the National Council for Libyan Women, organized yesterday, Saturday, in the capital, Tripoli – the first political salon of the Association of Libyan Diplomats – a dialogue session under the slogan (the diplomatic and political role of the National Council for Libyan Women in achieving unity, security and stability in Libya) .

At the outset of the dialogue session, the official spokesperson for the National Council for Libyan Women, Lamia Al-Zalitani, reviewed the objectives of the National Council, its strategic vision, and the role the Council plays in drawing up public policy projects and preparing new legal formulas on various women’s issues that need to be amended, empowering women politically, economically, and socially, collecting weapons and returning the displaced, providing material and psychological support to needy and abused women, caring for people with special needs, advancing sustainable development, and educating women about their political and economic rights.

“Zalitani” also dealt with the mechanisms of membership in the National Council for Women and how the council supported women and reached them in all cities and municipalities, explaining that despite the short period of establishment of the council, which did not exceed five months, the number of offices and branches reached (170) offices and branches worldwide, and the entire Libyan soil, and its membership reached nearly (17) thousand members.

During the dialogue session, the National Council and the legality of its establishment were introduced, and the role of the Council at the diplomatic level in reviewing international agreements on women, as well as representing Libya in Arab, regional and international organizations.

The participants in the dialogue session also discussed the political role in supporting security stability, contributing to the collection of weapons, and applying the experiences of countries in the process of political influence.

The dialogue session was attended by the Secretary-General of the Libyan Diplomats Association, Ambassador “Salem Qawaten” and “Abdul Hamid Al-Hakimi” for the Diplomatic Association, the director of the women’s office in the Libyan Diplomats Association, “Sabreen Al-Werfalli”, the dean of the Faculty of Languages, “Huda Al-Obeidi”, the advisor of the National Council, “Moayad Al-Futtis”, and the director of the Council’s office The National Council in Sabratha and a number of women from the National Council from Sabratha, Al Khums, Zliten and Souk Al Jumaa.
