Consultations between House of Representatives and High Council of State continue on constitutional process

Tripoli-Consultations between the two committees selected by the House of Representatives and the High Council of State on the constitutional process are continuing in Cairo, Egypt, the UN Support Mission in Libya UNSMIL said Saturday.

For her part, Member of Parliament Asma Al-Khawaja said in a press statement, Friday, that the consultations took place in a consensual atmosphere, where several points were agreed on the constitutional process and how to address them.”

The two committees agreed to define controversial articles in the draft constitution by members to be determined, to know the scope of these points and the extent to which alternative solutions and texts can be found, stressing that there are no proposals either by the UN mission or the Egyptian state regarding a mini-government or otherwise,” the committee member explained.

Consultations between the Libyan Parliament and the Council of State continue for the third day in a row, to reach a consensus on the constitutional process and then move beyond the referendum on the constitution, particularly regarding issues that matter to the forthcoming electoral process.
