Dbaiba: We are waiting for election to be held.

Tripoli: Prime Minister of the National Unity Government, Abdul Hamid Dbaiba, confirmed today, Saturday, that he will not leave the government until elections are held and the Libyan people choose who will lead them.

This came in an interview with Lebanese journalist Tony Khalifa at the launch of the Tripoli Forum for Government Communication, within the activities of the Tripoli Media Days.

Dbaiba said: ‘I will not leave the chair except to those who deserve it, and we are seeking elections.’

Al-Dbaiba added, ‘We want to go to the elections and let the Libyan people choose,’ explaining that his mission in this government is to support the High National Elections Commission, the election sites, and secure the election funds.

Al-Dbaiba confirmed that he does not mind running for the presidency of any person who meets the conditions, such as Saif Gaddafi or anyone else, indicating that he accepts any candidate in the upcoming presidential elections.

He added that the procedure must be fair and not tailored
to a specific person, and we refuse to set detailed laws for the benefit of specific people.

Al-Dbaiba pointed out that Libya has not witnessed democracy in its history, so the process is difficult, because the culture since the previous regime has been against parties and representation, and we are trying to liberate the Libyan mind from all of this.

Regarding his candidacy for the upcoming presidential elections, Al-Dbaiba said that he has not yet decided on the possibility of doing so.
