GNU Minister of Industry Underscores Importance of Cooperating with China in the Area of Mining.

Tripoli, GNU Minister of Industry Ahmed Abu Hisa has underscored importance of cooperating with China in the area of mining, faltering companies , and industrial estates, given the potential and expertise they have in industrial business.

This came at audience the Minister had on Monday with representatives of Chinese companies working in the mining field and cement industry.

The Chinese companies’ representatives expressed a desire to engage in investment work in Libya, and establish cement factories in several regions in the country.

The Minister issued instructions for liaising with the National Mining Corporation, to determine priorities of investment and the follow up work.

HCS Proposes Holding Parliamentary Elections and Delaying Presidential Election.

Tripoli, The President of the High Council of State Khalid Al Meshri has unveiled a roadmap which calls for holding parliamentary elections at the end of the year, and delaying the presidential elections until after the referendum on the constitution.

In a press Conference in Tripoli on Monday, Al Meshri said ‘the roadmap which we propose calls for legislative elections on Dec. 24, and this is possible.’

‘After holding the these elections, and all bodies, which bear responsibility for lack of consensus in the last period ‘the House of Representatives and the High Council of State’, there will a new elected parliament, which is required to put forward a draft constitution to the vote within a year of its inception, he added.

‘The High Council of State sees that holding presidential elections at this juncture will not produce stability, because elections are not the goal in itself, rather the goal is initiating stability in the country’ Al Meshri said.

Minister of Transport Announces Resumption of Flights Between Libya and Malta.

Tripoli, A first flight coming from Malta arrived at Mi’tiga Inter. Airport on Monday, marking the resumption of flights between the two countries after a 2 year halt.

The Minister of Transport Mohamed Al Shuhubi, Minister of Economy Mohamed Al Huweij, the Ministry of Transport Undersecretary Khalid Al Senussi and the Ambassador of Malta were at the airport to welcome the arrival of the plane as it arrived at Mi’tiga International Airport.

Al Shuhubi announced at a joint press conference with Minister of Economy of Malta Silvio Schembri the launch of the first flight between Libya and Malta after more than a 2 year halt.

He said there will be 4 flights a week between Libya and Malta as stated by the memo signed during the visit of the Head of GNU to Malta recently.

On his part, the Maltese Minister expressed delight for resuming flights between the two countries, describing it as a step in the right direction.

‘Malta’s relationship with Libya is more than friendly, there is a lot of joint work to do together, and Malta is ready to help upgrade services in Libya, the Minister said.

He conveyed compliments of the Head of Government of Malta, saying he always represents the voice of Libyans.

Head of High Council of State confirms House of Representatives have no right to issue laws on its own

Tripoli, The President of the High Council of State, “Khaled Al-Mashri,” confirmed that the House of Representatives does not have the right to issue laws on its own, and that its insistence on issuing them is a clear obstruction to holding the elections on time.

Al-Mishri indicated in a press conference held in Tripoli, Monday, that the parliament sees at this stage the importance of holding legislative elections first, because electing the president in the current situation will not generate stability. Al-Mashri expressed the readiness of the High Council of State to meet with all parties at home, stressing that countries including America, Britain, Italy and a number of Arab countries had made contacts with the aim of reaching a consensus between the House of Representatives and the High Council of State. On the law to elect the president directly from the people, which was issued by a number of members of the House of Representatives, Al-Mashri confirmed that the House of Representatives has many essential observations about it, stressing the need for a constitution that prevents the domination of any of the parties.

President of High Council of State meets a delegation of dignitaries, wise men and sheikhs of the Shwerf region.

Tripoli, President of the High Council of State, Khaled Al-Mashri, met, Monday, with a delegation of dignitaries, wise men and sheikhs of the Shwerf region, at the council’s headquarters in the capital, Tripoli. During the meeting, they discussed the importance of holding elections, and the council’s role in creating the appropriate atmosphere and conditions for such elections.

Al-Mashri affirmed the council’s keenness on the unity of the Libyan soil and the unification of the word of Libyans of all stripes; and harnessing efforts to build the state that all Libyans aspire to and that preserves their dignity. The meeting also touched on the problems that the Shwerf region suffers from, especially the service ones, where Al-Mashri noted that the council will urge the government of national unity to pay attention to the region, provide all services to it and achieve development in it.

The Minister of Transportation announces the resumption of flights between Libya and Malta.

Tripoli, The first flight arrived at Maitiga Airport from Valletta Airport in the Republic of Malta on Monday afternoon, marking the opening of an air route between the two countries after a two-year hiatus.

The plane was received upon its arrival at Maitiga International Airport by the Minister of Transportation, “Mohamed Al-Shoubi,” the Minister of Economy and Trade, “Mohamed Al-Hawij,” the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport for Air Transport, “Khaled Al-Suwaisi,” the head of the Airports Authority, “Mohammed Bait Al-Mal,” and the ambassador of Malta to Libya.

The Minister of Transport, “Mohamed Al-Shoubi,” announced during a joint press conference with the Minister of the Maltese Economy, “Silvio Schembri”, the launch of the first flights between Libya and Malta, after a hiatus of more than two years.

The minister explained that air navigation between the two countries will be resumed at four flights per week, based on the visit paid by Prime Minister “Abdul Hamid al-Dbaiba” and his accompanying delegation during the last period, according to which a memorandum of understanding was signed in this regard.

The minister stressed that this vital line between Libya and Malta would contribute to economic growth, revitalizing the movement of people and goods, and advancing the transportation sector in Libya.

For his part, the Maltese Economy Minister “Silvio Schembri” expressed his assistance in the return of flights between the two countries.

He said it is a small step in the right direction, and there is a lot of joint work to be accomplished, and that relations with Libya are not friendship, but rather a brotherly relationship, and that his country is fully prepared to provide assistance to develop services in Libya.

During the press conference, the minister conveyed the greetings of his country’s president and government, stressing that the Maltese prime minister always expresses the voice of Libyans in the European Union.
