Oun: The losses of closing the oil fields exceeded 350 thousand barrels per day

The Minister of Oil and Gas in the Government of National Unity, Mohamed Oun, said today, Tuesday, that the losses of closing the oil fields in the southwest of the country exceeded 350 thousand barrels per day after the closure of the El Feel field.

Oun added, in Tuesday’s statements, that the ministry had contacted the members of the Petroleum Facilities Guard, the southwestern branch, who closed the fields and are still insisting on implementing their demands in exchange for reopening the oil fields.

The Minister of Oil and Gas confirmed that the chairmen of the boards of directors of Akakus, Sirte and Mellitah companies complied with the directives issued by the ministry to continue their work, and to follow the correct legal and administrative procedures to resolve existing disputes and problems in order to avoid the loss of oil production.

Personnel affiliated with the Petroleum Facilities Guard closed the El Sharara, El Feel, El Wafa, and Hamada fields, causing losses of more than 350 thousand barrels per day, while the agency’s administration denounced the locking of oil fields and their use as a means of pressure for demands.

Al-Kabeer is following up with Budget Committee annual closing for 2021.

Tripoli, The Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Al-Siddiq Al-Kabeer, continued, on Sunday in Tripoli, the implementation of the recommendations of the budget committee of the bank. This came during the meeting held by Al Kabeer at the bank’s headquarters with the Budget Committee and the relevant departments of the bank to discuss its preparations for the annual closing of the 2021 budget.

Libya may conclude oil service agreements with national or foreign companies to develop fields and increase production.

Tripoli, Minister of Oil and Gas “Mohammed Oun” expressed Libya’s aspiration that its oil production would reach about (2.1) million barrels per day, within a period of time ranging between two or three years.

In statements to Bloomberg, Minister Oun said that Libya may grant rewards to oil companies that fulfill their pledges to increase production to 1.4 million barrels per day by mid-2022, and those who do not comply may be punished.

The Minister of Oil and Gas indicated that (reaching this number is possible if a prepared budget for the sector is finally approved, which opens the door for financing, and otherwise, the state may conclude oil service agreements with national or private foreign companies to develop fields and enhance production.

Oun explained in his statements that Libya’s oil production currently ranges between 1.25 million and 1.3 million barrels per day, and if the state is stabilized through elections or the formation of the government, we hope to reach a production of (2.1) million barrels per day.
