Celebration in Tripoli on the occasion of the International Day for the Rights of Children

Tripoli-The High Commission for Scouts and Guides, in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development, held a celebration today in Tripoli in celebration of the International Children’s Day, which falls on November 20 of each year, in the presence of the GNU Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, Mabrouka Toghi.

The celebration, which was attended by the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Palestine in Libya, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture for Theater and Arts Affairs Abdul Basit Abu Ginda, a number of civil society institutions and those interested in children’s rights, leaders and scout teams, included the presentation of a number of artistic and lyrical performances and a set of dialogue paragraphs presented by the children, in expression of their optimism for the future.

During the ceremony, GNU Minister Mabrouka Toghi stressed keenness of the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development to pay attention to children in cooperation with all public institutions and civil society organisations in issues related to spreading and establishing a culture of children’s rights, and announced the establishment of the Children’s Parliament to listen to the voices and opinions of children, the child Revan Ahmed was honored for her participation in the Climate Summit in Egypt.

Agreement between Supreme Judiciary Council and Italian Supreme Judiciary Council to set programs for cooperation

Rome-Supreme Judiciary Council agreed with Italian Supreme Judiciary Council to set programs for cooperation between them, including delegation for study in Rome.

This came during meeting of President of Supreme Judiciary Council “Miftah al-Qawi” with the head and members of the Italian Supreme Judiciary Council in Rome, in presence of Libya’s Ambassador, Mohamed Al-Maqhour.

The two sides discussed aspects of cooperation between the two councils, that related to set programs, include delegation for study and communication with the Higher Judicial Institute.

Minister of Justice Receives the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court

Tripoli – Minister of Justice Halima Abdul-Rahman received ,yesterday, prosecutor of the International Criminal Court Karim Khan , and members of his accompanying delegation in the presence of some directors of departments in the ministry.

The Minister welcomed the Prosecutor and his delegation, expressing the interest of the Ministry of Justice in achieving justice and enhancing the rule of law, stressing on the principle of non-impunity with the jurisdiction of the Libyan judiciary.

For his part, Karim Khan expressed his thanks to the Government of National Unity for the cooperation and facilities that it provided to his delegation during the visit, calling for more coordination between the two sides in area of justice and human rights.

The meeting discussed aspects of cooperation on integration principle in line with the national judiciary and the Office of Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court in a number of joint cases.

Al-Hafi briefs Zeninga on history of the Constitutional Chamber of the HighCourt

Tripoli-President of the High Court Mohammed Al-Hafi briefed the Acting Head of the UN Mission in Libya ,Raisedon Zeninga, on history of the Constitutional Chamber of the High Court and the recent decision issued by the General Assembly to re-activate the Chamber.

This came during a meeting Al-Hafi held yesterday with Zeninga, during which the latter recognized the jurisdiction of the High Court as a sovereign institution to re-activate the Constitutional Chamber.

According to tweets by the UN Mission on its Twitter , Zeninga stressed the importance to maintain independence and unity of the judiciary , to be able to resolve all disputes under its jurisdiction ,including constitutional and legal challenges in a timely manner and protect people’s rights and freedom.

Major General (Al-Khitouni) stresses the need to adhere to the procedures of the judicial police officer in arrest and summons operations

Tripoli – The Director of the Law Enforcement Department, Brigade “Abdul Hakim Al-Khitouni” stressed the department’s employees the necessity of adhering to the procedures of the judicial officer in arrests and summonses, and adherence to legal procedures in this regard.

Al-Khaitouni called – during an expanded meeting held today with a number of administration officers – to treat citizens well while performing tasks in establishing security stops and patrols, according to what was published by the Media Office of the Law Enforcement Department through his account on the “Facebook” website.

He also called on the employees and officers of the Law Enforcement Department to exert more effort and sacrifice to maintain security, stressing the need to strictly adhere to, link and implement instructions with all seriousness as required by the security duty to protect the security of the homeland and the citizen.

During the meeting, the director of the department referred to the tasks entrusted to the law enforcement department, including implementing the instructions of the deputy and public prosecutions in many security issues, including the recovery of lands and citizens’ properties and the arrest of wanted persons.

The meeting dealt with discussing a number of issues related to the workflow of the administration and the problems facing the workflow and developing solutions to them to contribute to its success.

A door was also opened for discussion and listening to observations by the officers, the problems encountered in the workflow and the solutions to be taken to overcome these obstacles in a way that contributes to the success of the tasks and duties assigned to the administration.

Al Dabaiba welcomes decision of the General Assembly of the Supreme Court to reactivate the Constitutional Chamber

Tripoli-The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Al Dabaiba on Thursday welcomed the decision of the General Assembly of the Supreme Court to reactivate the Constitutional Chamber.

Al Dabaiba said, in a post on his SMS page ‘We welcome the decision of the General Assembly of the Supreme Court to reactivate the Constitutional Chamber.

‘Perhaps it will be a deterrent to the excesses practiced by the parties and decisions contrary to the political agreement, being the constitutional document governing the stage; the independence of the judiciary and the existence of a governing constitution as a basis for the stability of the country, he said.
