Youth Affairs Minister meets Saudi Education Minister

Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, Minister of Youth Affairs, has affirmed the depth of the long-standing Bahraini-Saudi relations, stressing the kingdom’s keenness to continue consolidating bilateral ties, in light of the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

Minister Rawan Tawfiqi was speaking during her meeting with Yousef bin Abdullah Al-Benyan, Saudi Education Minister, on the sidelines of her official visit to Saudi Arabia.

The minister underlined the importance of enhancing the Bahraini-Saudi constructive cooperation in the field of youth, by availing of each other’s successful experiences in training youth and developing their skills.

She also called for deepening joint youth action by launching initiatives that benefit youth in the two kingdoms and prepare them to be leaders of the future.

The Saudi Education Minister highlighted the main programmes and events provided to Saudi youth, particularly school students, to develop their capabilities and hone their skills.

Al Rabeeah Meets Somalian Minister of Education, Culture, and Higher Education

Advisor at the Royal Court and Supervisor General of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rabeeah met with the Minister of Education, Culture, and Higher Education of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Farah Sheikh Abdulqadir, and his accompanying delegation today at the KSrelief’s headquarters in Riyadh.

Abdulqadir expressed heartfelt gratitude for the humanitarian and relief projects provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through KSrelief in his country. He also praised the professional performance of KSrelief and its extensive international efforts.

QU Launches First Phase of ‘Safety and Flow’ Campaign

Qatar University (QU) launched the first phase of the ‘Safety and Flow: A Shared Responsibility’ campaign aimed at ensuring the quality and flow of traffic on campus.

The campaign includes a series of measures aimed at facilitating the flow of traffic on the university campus, while it includes aspects related to parking, opening new gates, and directing students to them, in addition to facilitating transportation services for students and university staff within the campus.

In a statement marking the occasion, Director of Facilities and General Services Department Eng. Mai Fetais confirmed that the University had completed preparations for a new parking lot that aims to serve students from the College of Engineering and College of Business and Economics, as one part of a comprehensive plan that began at the beginning of the current semester. She pointed out that in accordance with the plan, short-term parking will be allocated for drivers of female students.

Eng. Mai Fetais added that the plan includes providing a golf cart service that will transport female students from the multi-story parking to the colleges.

She noted that the administration has provided everything that would provide comfort for the students, such as cafeterias in these parking lots.

The Director of Facilities and General Services Department noted the opening of three new gates, bringing the total of entry points to the QU campus to seven, which aims to reduce congestion at other gates.

These new gates include Gate No. 7, which leads directly to the College of Arts and Sciences (Female), Gate No. 4, and Gate No. 5, which lead to the College of Education, College of Law and Student Affairs Building.

Eng. Mai Fetais encouraged the QU community to take advantage of these gates, to reduce pressure on the main gates and to avoid drop-off on the public streets, to ensure the safety of all and to prevent further traffic congestion.

The University has also worked on a comprehensive communication plan for this campaign to guide students to benefit from these new positions and the services it provide.

The operation of the multi-story park is the first step in this thorough plan, which will be followed by successive steps, as part of a large project to regulate the flow of traffic within the QU campus in coordination and cooperation with concerned external authorities: The Ministry of Interior, Public Works Authority (Ashghal), specialized consulting offices, and others.

Education Minister meets RCSI-Bahrain delegation

Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Higher Education Council (HEC), met a delegation from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland – Medical University of Bahrain (RCSI-Bahrain), led by Professor Cathal Kelly, RCSI Vice Chancellor and Registrar.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Diana Abdulkarim Al Jahrami, Secretary General of the Higher Education Council (HEC), and Dr. Farzana AlMaraghi (Director of Scientific Research) Higher Education Council Bahrain, Dr. Sameer Otoom, President of the RCSI Medical University of Bahrain; and Stephen Harrison-Mirfield, Head of School of Postgraduate Studies and Research.

The minister praised RCSI-Bahrain for its role in advancing the higher education sector and providing academic programmes in medicine and sciences in the kingdom.

He lauded the partnership between the HEC and the RCSI in achieving the strategic goals of developing the higher education sector in Bahrain.

The minister was briefed on the RCSI-Bahrain’s future plans which include expanding the college’s facilities and developing new ones, and the college’s most important programmes, in addition to its current and future projects.

The two parties discussed further enhancing cooperation between the Education Ministry and the RCSI by doubling joint programs targeting secondary schools.

MOEHE Announces List of Teachers Accepted in Experiences Program

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE) announced the list of teachers who have been accepted in the first edition of the Teacher Fellowship Program (Experiences), in preparation for their departure to Finland after passing all requirements and conditions including the English language test and personal interviews.

The first group of teachers of the Experiences program includes 15 male and female teachers specialized in English, mathematics, and science from the primary, model and preparatory levels.

Director of the Training and Development Center at the MOEHE Iman Salman Al Mohannadi stated that the teachers were accepted according to competitive and transparent standards and conditions, as the nominations and acceptance procedures were shared with all candidates.

She added that a hotline was allocated to receive all inquiries related to the nominations for the program which saw the nomination of more than 50 teachers who had the desire and ambition to enrich their experiences in teaching.

The Experiences program is one of the pioneering educational initiatives launched by the MOEHE at the beginning of the current academic year (2023-2024). It is a training program that meets the goals and objectives of the human development of the Qatar National Vision aimed at investing in the human element.

The program will see Qatari academic cadres travel abroad to gain experience and give them the opportunity to learn about important teaching practices in various learning environments.

KSrelief to Implement Second Phase of Return to School Project in Yemen

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) yesterday signed a cooperation agreement with a civil society institution to implement the second phase of the return to school project in Yemen’s Hajjah, Abyan, Hadramout and Mayyun Island, in Taiz; 13,300 individuals are expected to benefit from the agreement.

KSrelief Assistant General Supervisor Eng. Ahmed bin Ali Al-Baiz signed the agreement at the center headquarters in Riyadh.

The agreement stipulates equipping 95 classrooms, providing educational materials, such as school bags and uniforms, as well as creating jobs for low-income families (beneficiaries of previous training and empowerment projects) by having school bags produced locally.

The latest undertaking comes within the framework of a series of educational projects implemented by the Kingdom, through its humanitarian arm KSrelief, to create a safe educational environment in Yemen and ensure its sustainability in targeted areas by carrying out different activities.
