Batili: The damage that Sirte witnessed as a result of the conflict left a deep and painful impact on people’s hearts

Tripoli- The Special Representative of the Secretary-General in Libya, “Abdullah Batili,” said that the scale of destruction and damage to homes and public and private property as a result of the armed conflict in the city of Sirte left a deep and painful impact on people’s hearts.

This came in a tweet posted by “Batili” through his account on the “Twitter” website, after a tour he made today, Sunday, in the city of Sirte, to find out the extent of the damage that the city witnessed as a result of previous wars.

Batelli stressed that restoring peace and stability and restoring the legitimacy of institutions in Libya is extremely necessary in order to have the opportunity to rebuild cities that have been destroyed, such as the city of Sirte.

He also called for the need to fairly compensate individuals and companies that have been affected by the destruction, in addition to activating social services fully, and restoring the spirit of peaceful relations between citizens throughout the country.
