The Presidential Office receives the Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa at the German Foreign Ministry

Tripoli, October 04, 2022 (LANA) – The President of the Presidential Council, “Mohammed Al-Manfi” and the two deputies of the Council, “Abdullah Al-Lafi” and “Moussa Al-Koni” received today, Tuesday, in Tripoli, the Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa at the German Foreign Ministry, “Christian Backe”.

The interview, which was attended by German Ambassador to Libya “Michael Unmacht”, dealt with the latest developments in the political, economic and security situation in Libya, the project of national reconciliation, getting out of the political blockage and reaching the elections as soon as possible.

According to the media office of the Presidential Council, “Al-Manfi” praised Germany’s positive role towards Libya, especially through its efforts in the Berlin tracks (2,1), to find a solution to the Libyan crisis, and to come up with a consensus that paves the way for stability in the country.

In turn – according to the same source – the regional director praised the role of the Presidential Council as it represents the unity of Libya, noting that Germany is seeking with its regional partners to achieve stability in the country and enhance security, in order to prepare the situation, in preparation for holding presidential and parliamentary elections.

The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity receives the German Special Envoy to Libya Christian Backe.

Tripoli, October 4, 2022 (LANA) – The Government of National Unity, Abdel Hamid Dabaiba, received in Tripoli today, the German Special Envoy to Libya Christian Back.

The meeting discussed the importance of having a direct political map for the elections that would receive the necessary international support for their implementation.

Al-Dabaiba explained the need for Libya to participate in any international meetings that take place on the Libyan situation, stressing that the real solutions are the ones that stem from the will of the Libyans.

He stressed that the Libyan people are looking forward to holding the elections as soon as possible in order to reach the stable stage and end the transitional stages.

He stressed the need to set a time frame for the issuance of the constitutional rule or to go in alternative paths so as not to delay the elections.

He also stressed that the constitutional rule should not include detailed provisions on a person to prevent or empower him, leaving the people to choose who represents them.

Al-Dabaiba warned of the need to seek to fortify this base through direct legitimacy from the Libyan people to ensure that it does not in itself be the cause of another division, and for the elections to be built on a solid foundation.

The Prime Minister of the National Unity Government congratulated German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and the friendly German people on the occasion of the German National Day, which falls on the 3rd of October.

Elders and notables of the Al-Maqraha tribe declare their support for the efforts of the Presidential Council in achieving national reconciliation and stability on the entire Libyan territory.

Tripoli, 3 October 2022 (Lana) Vice President of Presidential Council Moussa Al-Koni met on Monday with a number of notables and prominent figures from Al-Maqarha tribe who declared their support for the efforts the Presidential Council is conducting to achieve national reconciliation and stability on the entire Libyan territory, and to pave the way for holding elections which the Libyan people aspire for.

The delegation of notables praised the role of the Presidential Council and its contribution to the reklease of a number of prisoners sentenced by judicial authorities, in coordination with the Ministry of Justice, and called on the Presidential Council to continue this initiative, which will contribute to achieving reconciliation and re-uniting Libyans.

Libya and Turkey sign memorandums of understanding in the field of oil and gas energy.

Tripoli, 3 October 2022 (Lana) The two memorandums of understanding on oil and gas signed on Monday in Tripoli between Libya and Turkey are in the interest of the two countries and will contribute to solving the oil and gas crisis in the world, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity Najla Al-Mangoush said.

Al-Mangoush explained in the joint press conference with her Turkish counterpart Cavusoglu in Tripoli, that the maritime agreement signed between the two countries earlier needs to be registered at the United Nations, and that it was not addressed in today’s meetings, stressing that such agreements are important for Libya at this stage, especially with reliance on the large balance of trade and economic exchange between Libya and Turkey.

On holding of elections in Libya, Al Mangoush said “we have understood the need to coordinate efforts to support international efforts to support the map drawn up, and to mobilize support for it in order to ensure the achievement of its goal and follow important steps, including the commitment of legislative bodies to finish the points of contention in the constitutional basis.

Al-Mangoush pointed out that if the constitutional basis is agreed, the parliament will issue a law to conduct the elections and the Election Commission will be tasked with preparing a timetable that includes a vision of the electoral process and the government is committed to supporting it.

Al Mangoush called on the international community to carry out its duties towards Libya more seriously and more consciously, and to deal very firmly with anyone who tries to obstruct the democratic process in Libya.

On his part the Turkish Foreign Minister stressed the importance of signing the two memorandums of understanding between the two countries which he said were important to maintain the stability and security of Libya, pointing out that there are consultations and discussions taking place between the two countries to sign other memorandums of understanding later.

The Turkish Minister stressed importance of previously signed maritime memorandum of understanding that it entered into force and said ‘we have informed the United Nations of it because it concerns Libya and Turkey.’

The Turkish Minister reiterated that solutions in Libya come through dialogue, calling on the House of Representatives and the High Council of State to complete the dialogue to reach a constitutional base.

On the other hand, Cavusoglu revealed the imminent opening of Turkey’s consulate in Benghazi, and a visit by the friendship group in the Turkish National Assembly to Libya to communicate with all parties and with the House of Representatives.

The memorandums were signed by Foreign Minister Najla Al Mangoush and Cavusoglu and Economy and Trade Minister Mohamed Al Haweij and on the Turkish side by Energy and Natural Resources Minister Fatih Donmaz.

Al-Manqoush discussed with her Turkish counterpart ways to enhance bilateral relations.

 Tripoli, October 3, 2022 (LANA) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity, “Najla Al-Manqoush”, held a bilateral meeting with her Turkish counterpart, “Mevlut Cavusoglu”, during which they discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, and follow up on facilitating the resumption of Turkish Airlines flights to Libyan airports. .

  During the meeting, which was held at the Prime Minister’s Office in the capital, Tripoli, as part of the Turkish delegation’s visit, the two sides agreed on the need to coordinate international efforts to support the roadmap and mobilize support for it to ensure the achievement of the elections.

The two sides also discussed arrangements for holding the Libyan-Turkish Higher Strategic Council in Tripoli and the Libyan-Turkish Partnership Forum, as a step towards a major launch for a number of major strategic projects between the two countries.

Tripoli, October 3, 2022 (LANA) – The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, “Abdul Hamid Dabaiba,” received a high-level Turkish delegation headed by the Turkish Foreign Minister, “Mevlut Çavuşoğlu,” including the Ministers of Defense Hulusi Akar, Energy “Fatih Donmez” and Trade, Mehmet Muş, in addition to the President General Staff Yasar Guler, Turkish Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun, and Chief Adviser to Turkish President Ibrahim Kalin.

An expanded meeting was held in the presence of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, “Najla Al-Manqoush”, the designated Oil and Gas Minister, “Mohammed Al-Hweij”, the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, “Seddik Al-Kabeer”, the Chief of General Staff, “Mohamed Al-Haddad”, the Minister of State for Communication and Political Affairs, “Walid Al-Lafi” and for Cabinet Affairs and Prime Minister “Adel Juma’a” “.

The meeting, according to the Prime Minister’s media office, dealt with preparations for holding the Supreme Libyan-Turkish Strategic Council in Tripoli, and the Libyan-Turkish Partnership Forum, which will represent the launch of a number of important strategic projects.

After the meeting, memoranda of understanding were signed in the fields of security training, oil and gas energy, and media, in the context of strengthening relations between the two countries.
