Ambulance drivers organize protest sit-in to demand end to ban on ambulances entering through the Ras Ajdair border crossing with Tunisia.

Tripoli, A number of ambulance drivers organized a protest sit-in this morning in front of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in Tripoli, to push for measures to end ban by the Tunisian authorities on ambulances entering through the Ras Ajdair land border crossing in line with the new procedures.

The protesters demanded the intervention of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to resolve the problem with the Tunisian authorities, to allow entry of ambulances to reduce financial cost for the patients and to treat them well.

This sit-in came as a result of the Tunisian side’s refusal of entry of Libyan ambulances and insistence that patients enter through Tunisian ambulances or be subjected to strict procedures.

The protesters announced, in statements to the Libyan News Agency Lana, that they would continue the sit-in until their demands were met.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation told protesters the ministry would address their demands within a period of maximum three days.
