Ambassador Norland dismisses existence of a Western plan to postpone the elections, and confirms his country’s support for conducting them as soon as possible

Tripoli-U.S. Ambassador and Special Envoy to Libya Richard Norland strongly dismissed what he called false accounts of a western plan to postpone Libyan elections. In a Tweet posted by the U.S. Embassy, Ambassador Norland said his country continues to support efforts to hold free and fair elections in Libya as soon as possible.

Norland refutes recent allegations and false accounts that the New Arab and Eram News have published, based on unnamed sources claiming a Western plan to postpone the elections — and the United States continues to support efforts to hold free and fair elections in Libya as soon as possible, the tweet said.
