Al-Mashri discusses with the Belgian ambassador to Libya the developments of the political situation in Libya.

Tripoli,- The President of the Supreme Council of State, Khaled Al-Mashri, discussed today, Sunday, with the Ambassador of the State of Belgium to Libya, H.E. Christophe de Passombiere, the bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to develop them.

During the meeting, which was held at the council’s headquarters in the capital, Tripoli, the two sides touched on the file of elections in Libya, where Al-Mashri stressed the need to hold elections on constitutional and legal bases, to ensure a fair electoral process and broad participation of citizens, and to build a democratic process and a constitutional right in which the rights and freedom of citizens are preserved.

For his part, the Belgian ambassador informed the President of the High Council of State that the end of his tenure in Libya as an ambassador for his country is nearing. Al-Mashri also thanked H.E. de Passombiere for the period he spent as the ambassador of the State of Belgium in Libya and for his good representation of it.
