A protest before HCS rejecting amendment to Constitutional Declaration approved by the House of Representatives

Tripoli–A protest was organized, Monday, in front of the High Council of the State in Tripoli, rejecting the recent amendment approved by the House of Representatives for Articles (12) and (13) of the Constitutional Declaration.

The participants in the protest organized by the civil movement to restore legitimacy to the people called on the High Council of the State not to table this amendment for discussion, as it is an attack on the Constitutional Declaration, which is the most important gains of the February Revolution, and an attempt to empty it of its essence, as they put it.

In a statement, the participants held the House of Representatives and the HCS responsible for the dangerous stages, the country has reached and the political impasse that threatens the Libyan state. They stressed that the aim of this amendment is to impede access to elections and a conspiracy to deprive the people, the source of the authorities, from exercising their right to elections and choose their representatives to renew legitimacies.

The statement stressed that the civil movement continues its protest and will continue its peaceful escalation to abort what it described as a conspiracy against the Libyan people to self-determination, and that it is not responsible for the chaos that results from this approach in the country.
