Ombuds Office participates in Bahrain human rights periodic report discussion


Cairo, Hamad Salman Taqi, the Director of Monitoring Prisons and Detention Facilities represented the General Secretariat of the Ombudsman at the discussion of Bahrain’s second periodic report on human rights at the Arab Charter Committee, as part of the official delegation of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The Ombuds Office’s has contributed to the report by documenting its role in upholding human rights, receiving grievances, and visiting detention centres and prisons.

The Ombudsman had received a delegation from the Arab Commission on Human Rights (Arab Charter Committee) last February.

The delegation was led by the Chairman of the Committee and a number of other members who were briefed on Bahrain’s human rights accomplishments and the role of the Ombuds Office.

MAP, AMI Sign Partnership Agreement

Rabat – The Maghreb Arab Press Agency (MAP) and the Mauritanian Press Agency (AMI) signed, here Thursday, a new partnership agreement to further promote their cooperation relations.

Signed by MAP Director-General, Fouad Arif, and AMI Director-General, Mokhtar Malal Dia, this agreement is meant to promote fruitful multifaceted cooperation, which reflects the excellent relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.

Concluded on the sidelines of AMI Director-General’s visit to MAP headquarters, this agreement provides for the exchange of information and multimedia content, photos, videos, audios and infographics between the two agencies.

Both agencies will also promote the exchange of experiences between their respective editorial staff and marketing and sales departments, as well as in terms of human resources management and information systems, by organizing visits and training sessions for journalists, administrative and technical managers, as well as information technolog
y specialists.

They also coordinate their action at regional and multilateral platforms as well as within the professional federations of which they are members.

This agreement will promote the exchange of expertise and information, as well as the management of the two institutions’ human resources, Arif said.

This agreement is of great importance as it comes at a time when the media sector is facing several challenges linked, in particular, to the resurgence of media disinformation and fake news, he underlined, calling for pooling the two agencies’ efforts to take up these challenges.

MAP Director-General also stressed that this agreement is not only a big step towards consolidating cooperation between the two agencies, but also marks a new era of media cooperation between Morocco and Mauritania.

For his part, Malal Dia expressed AMI’s willingness and commitment to promote coordination relations with MAP, to reach new horizons.

This agreement is a new benchmark for cooperation between the two countries
in media, and reflects AMI’s willingness to build on MAP experience regionally and continentally, he stressed.

First International Forum on Moroccan Sahara Opens in Dakhla

Dakhla – The inaugural International Forum on the Moroccan Sahara commenced on Wednesday in Dakhla, marking a significant gathering of academics and researchers from various disciplines.

Organized by the University Institute of African, Euro-Mediterranean, and Ibero-American Studies, in collaboration with the Rayonnement Center for Geopolitical and Strategic Studies, the forum’s thematic focus aligns with the visionary perspective outlined by HM King Mohammed VI.

The event, held in partnership with the National School of Commerce and Management (ENCG) of Dakhla and the Council of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab Region, aims to catalyze scholarly discourse and forward-looking analysis concerning the emerging geo-economic landscape in the region.

Mohamed Dhafer Kettani, the acting director of the University Institute, emphasized the forum’s role as an opportunity for experts and scholars to deliberate on strategies for supporting sustainable development in the Moroccan Sahara. He outlined three key axes of discussio
n: the Sahara’s pivotal role in the Afro-Atlantic and Sahel regions, geo-economic challenges and development prospects, and the geopolitical dynamics amidst security risks.

El Khattat Yanja, President of the Council of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab Region, underscored the forum’s significance in spotlighting His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s development vision, particularly for the Southern Provinces of the Kingdom and the broader African continent.

Meanwhile, Mohamed El Kihel, President of the Rayonnement Center, highlighted the forum’s focus on the Royal Initiative for the Atlantic, describing it as a transformative endeavor with economic, geopolitical, and strategic dimensions. He emphasized Morocco’s historical role and its enduring commitment to South-South cooperation under HM the King’s leadership.

Lakhdar Abdoulbaki Mohamed, director of the Nigerian Center for Arab Studies, commended Morocco’s integrated African policy and its efforts towards fostering peace and stability in the region. He praised the Initi
ative for the Atlantic for its potential to harness African resources and capacities in a cooperative framework.

The forum agenda encompasses a range of themes, including the Sahara’s role in regional dynamics, geo-economic challenges, geopolitical complexities, and Morocco’s relations with Sahel countries.

In a parallel development, three cooperation agreements were inked between the Rayonnement Center, ENCG Dakhla, the Nigerian Center for Arab Studies, and the Center for Research and Regional and International Studies in Chad, highlighting the commitment to scholarly collaboration and knowledge exchange beyond borders.

Algerian President receives credentials of Bahraini Ambassador


Algiers, HE President Abdelmadjid Tebboune of Algeria today received the credentials of Ali Jassim Ahmed Al Aradi as the Ambassador Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, in the presence of Ahmed Attaf, Algeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad.

The ambassador conveyed greetings from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to the Algerian President, as well as their wishes for further progress and prosperity to Algeria and its people.

The envoy also expressed his pride in representing the kingdom in Algeria, affirming his keenness to contribute to strengthening the deep-rooted relations between the two countries.

President Tebboune requested the ambassador to convey his greetings to HM the King and HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, as well as his wishes for continued progress and prosperity to Bahrain and its people.

He also w
ished the ambassador every success in carrying out his diplomatic duties in order to serve the interests of the two countries.
