2 Palestinians Martyred in Israeli Gunfire in West Bank

Two Palestinians were martyred by Israeli occupation gunfire at the intersection of the village of Beit Anoun, northeast of Hebron in the West Bank, on Sunday.

According to Palestinian news agency (WAFA), the occupation forces fired heavily at two young men, and prevented ambulance crews from reaching them.

Security sources confirmed to WAFA that the two young men died of their wounds, and the occupation forces were still holding their bodies.

The Israeli entity has escalated its operations in various regions of the West Bank and Jerusalem, in conjunction with its unprecedented aggression against the Gaza Strip since Oct. 7.

16 Martyrs as Israeli Occupation Targets Houses in Rafah

At least 16 Palestinians, including nine children, were martyred in Israeli aerial and artillery strikes targeting several houses in the city of Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli occupation army shelled several areas in the Gaza Strip, leaving martyrs and injured as the brutal war enters its 198th day.

Palestinian news agency (WAFA) reported the martyrdom of eight Palestinians, including five children and two women, in Israeli raids on two houses in the city of Rafah. Additionally, five Palestinians, including four children, were killed, and others were injured, in a shelling that targeted a house on George Street, east of Rafah.

Earlier last night, three Palestinians were martyred as a result of an Israeli raid that targeted a house in Al-Shaboura camp in the center of Rafah.

In this context, the Civil Defense announced that it had recovered the bodies of 50 martyrs who had been buried collectively by the Israeli occupation forces inside the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis.

s announced that the number of martyrs as a result of the ongoing aggression on the Gaza Strip since Oct. 7 rose to 34,049, the majority of whom were children and women, while the injuries have reached 76,901. Meanwhile, many victims are still under the rubble.

1 Killed, 7 Missing after 2 Helicopters Crashed in Japan

Two Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force helicopters crashed during a maneuver in the Pacific Ocean Saturday night, killing at least one of the eight crew members, while the other seven are still missing.

Japan’s Minister of Defense is Minoru Kihara announced in a statement on Sunday that the two aircraft that crashed in waters, about 270 km east of Torishima Island in the Izu Islands chain, are believed to have collided with each other during a night anti-submarine drill in the region.

The cause of the accident is still unknown, but the Ministry will make every effort to search for and rescue the missing people, Kihara added.

Last year, a military helicopter, with a crew of 10 people on board, was lost off an island in southern Japan.

5.6-Magnitude Earthquake Hits Eastern Taiwan

An earthquake measuring 5.6 magnitude on the Richter scale hit east of Taiwan on Sunday.

The epicenter of the quake was located 55.9 km southeast of Hualien County Hall, at a depth of 30 km, Taiwan News Agency quoted the Central Weather Administration (CWA) as saying.

There have been no immediate reports of human losses or material damage due to the earthquake.

Taiwan lies near tectonic faults at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean, making it vulnerable to regular earthquakes.

More than 100 people died in an earthquake in southern Taiwan in 2016, while a 7.6-magnitude earthquake killed more than 2,000 people in 1999.

2 Killed, 14 Injured in US Tennessee Shooting

At least two people were killed and 14 others were injured in a shooting that occurred during a party in the city of Memphis, in the US State of Tennessee.

Local police said in a statement that three of the injured were taken to hospitals in critical condition, while 11 others arrived at emergency departments in private cars.

The party which was attended by approximately 200 to 300 people was held without a permit, police explained.

The US witnesses frequent shooting incidents with various motives. The issue of the spread of weapons among the population is considered one of the most controversial issues in the country, prompting US President Joe Biden to approve a draft law prepared by Republican and Democratic legislators to set controls on gun possession in June 2022.

58 Killed after Boat Capsizes in Central African Republic

At least 58 people were killed and others were missing after an overloaded river boat capsized in Lake Mboko, in the Central African Republics capital Bangui.

Media reported that the 20 meters long and three meters wide boat was carrying more than 300 people on their way to attend a funeral, adding that it may have capsized due to overloading.

The head of civil protection, Thomas Djimasse, told Radio Guira in Central Africa that among the dead were many women and children.

“We were able to extract 58 lifeless bodies… We don’t know the total number of people who are underwater”, he said, adding that search operations are continuing.

According to civil defense reports, rescue workers did not arrive at the scene until 40 minutes after the boat capsized.

River transport is widely used in the Central African country due to the poor condition of many roads, yet many boats are made of wood and lack maintenance.
