King of Jordan, UN Secretary-General Discuss Developments in Gaza Strip

Amman: In a telephone conversation on Wednesday, King Abdullah II of Jordan discussed with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres the developments in the Gaza Strip.

During the call, they stressed the need to provide protection to the humanitarian relief organizations in the Gaza Strip.

The number of victims of workers providing humanitarian and relief services that the Israeli occupation forces have targeted since the beginning of its aggression against the Gaza Strip on Oct. 7 has reached 196.

For months, the Israeli entity has refused to allow UN and international institutions, especially UNRWA, the Red Cross, and the World Food Program, to work in northern Gaza, while its army restricts the entry of aid by land into the rest of the Gaza Strip, which has led to a scarcity of food, medicine, and fuel supplies and created a famine that is beginning claim the lives of children and the elderly.

On Monday, an Israeli occupation air strike targeted a convoy of the World Central Kitchen organization in Deir al
-Balah in the central Gaza Strip, killing seven of its relief workers, which sparked angry international reactions.

HH Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa meets outgoing Thai Ambassador


Manama, His Highness Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Advisor to HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, met with Piyapak Sricharoen, the outgoing Thai Ambassador to Bahrain.

The meeting reviewed Bahraini-Thai relations.

HH Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa praised the efforts of the Thai Ambassador to strengthen bilateral relations and emphasised the importance of continuing cooperation and joint initiatives.

The ambassador expressed thanks to HH Shaikh Ali for his keenness to further enhance the bilateral ties.

Saudi Crown Prince receives Spanish Prime Minister


Jeddah, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, received here today the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Spain, Pedro Sanchez.

According to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the two sides reviewed bilateral relations, and ways to enhance cooperation in various fields.

They also discussed the latest regional and international developments of mutual interest.

AFC President receives RBFA President


Manama, Shaikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, President of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), received Pascale Van Damme, President of the Royal Belgian Football Association (RBFA), during her official visit to Bahrain.

Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Football Association (BFA), attended the meeting.

The AFC President praised Belgian football’s distinguished international status.

He reviewed future plans for the development of Asian football, emphasising the importance of exchanging expertise and learning from global experiences to advance the game.

Shaikh Salman bin Ibrahim was briefed on the future plans of the RBFA, noting its innovative advancement in Belgium.

The President of RBFA expressed her appreciation to the AFC President for the hospitality and praised the AFC’s efforts in enhancing Asian football on all levels.

SCH Chairman, NBB Chairperson inaugurate Multiple Sclerosis Centre


Manama, Lieutenant-General Dr. Shaikh Mohamed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health (SCH), inaugurated NBB’s Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Centre in Muharraq alongside Hala Yateem, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the National Bank of Bahrain (NBB).

Dr. Jaleela bint Al Sayed Jawad Hassan, Minister of Health; Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Governmental Hospitals; NBB’s Board of Directors and Executive Management team, and several officials, were present at the inauguration.

The SCH Chairman praised the full support and attention that the kingdom’s public healthcare sector receives from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

He emphasised that this achievement stands as a testament to the civil and developmental objectives of the National Health Plan (2015-2026).

Lt. Gen. Dr. Shaikh Mohamed bin Abdullah pointed out that the MS Centre
is a prime example of a successful partnership between the public and private sectors and reflects the national organisations’ commitment to social responsibility through the implementation of various projects aimed at benefitting the public.

He expressed his appreciation for the generous support provided by NBB to finance the Centre’s construction and equipment in accordance with the highest standards.

Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulaziz commended the role of the Ministry of Works in supporting the efforts of Government Hospitals in implementing its strategic initiatives.

He noted that the Ministry of Works took into account all the healthcare requirements when designing the project at the highest engineering standards.

The Government Hospitals Chairman further added that the Centre includes seven outpatient clinics, an MRI diagnostic department, a physiotherapy department that provides manual exercise therapy, special and general treatment rooms, a laboratory and pharmacy, a scientific research centre, a lectur
e hall, medical warehouses, a service building, administrative offices, and parking spaces.

Hala Yateem, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of NBB said, “The NBB Multiple Sclerosis Centre is a landmark achievement that will substantially improve the lives of patients in Bahrain. We are honoured to be a part of this collaborative effort spearheaded by the Kingdom’s visionary leadership and made possible through the dedication of numerous organisations. We are confident that the Centre will play a vital role in advancing healthcare in the Kingdom, and fostering innovation and research in this critical field.”

Usman Ahmed, Group CEO of NBB, added that the NBB Multiple Sclerosis Centre represents a significant leap forward for MS care in Bahrain. By providing advanced diagnostics, treatments and rehabilitation, the Centre will play a crucial role in providing essential support to MS patients.

Casablanca Stock Exchange Starts on High Note


Casablanca – The Casablanca Stock Exchange opened higher on Wednesday, with its main index, the MASI, gaining 0.19% to 13,077.85 points.

The previous day, the MASI had closed with a gain of 0.35%.
