Rabat – A meeting with Ambassadors of African countries represented in Morocco, was held, Tuesday in Rabat, as part of preparations for the 33rd FAO Regional Conference for Africa (ARC33) to be hosted by Morocco from April 18 to 20, 2024 under the theme “Resilient agri-food systems and inclusive rural transformation”.
Chaired by Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests, Mohammed Sadiki, and accompanied by the Representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Morocco, Jean Senahoun, and a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, the meeting provided an opportunity to raise awareness and communicate on the organization of the 33rd session of the FAO Regional Conference for Africa.
Speaking at the event, Sadiki noted that the meeting is meant to raise awareness of the need for African delegations to attend this 33rd FAO Regional Conference for Africa, in order to discuss a theme of inter
est to our continent, namely food resilience.
“Our continent is suffering the consequences of climate change and geopolitical upheaval, which is having an effect on our countries’ food security and sovereignty,” he stressed.
For his part, the FAO Representative in Morocco noted that this 33rd FAO Regional Conference for Africa is an occasion for African ministers to review the challenges and opportunities facing the agricultural and food sector in Africa.
FAO Regional Conference for Africa is one of the main regional platforms focusing on food security and rural development in Africa. Chaired by Morocco, it will welcome over 50 ministers from African member states, representatives of observer countries, the African Union, donor organizations, civil society and the private sector.
