UAE President receives phone call from Philippines counterpart

UAE President His Highness Shaikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan today received a phone call from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr of the Philippines.

During the call, the two leaders discussed various areas of cooperation between the UAE and the Philippines and explored opportunities to further develop bilateral relations aimed at boosting the sustainable development ambitions of both nations.

His Highness and President Marcos also discussed a number of regional and international developments, Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.

HM King congratulated by Information Minister on designation of Manama as Arab Media Capital

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa today received a cable of congratulations from Information Minister, Dr. Ramzan bin Abdulla Al Noaimi, following the designation of Manama as “Capital of Arab Media” in 2024 during the 53rd regular session of the Arab Information Ministers Council, held recently in Rabat, the Kingdom of Morocco.

Minister Al Noaimi extended sincere congratulations to HM the King on the Arab honour, noting that it reflects Arab countries’ appreciation for the pioneering status reached by the media in Bahrain thanks to HM King Hamad’s sound visions and directives.

The Information Minister asserted that the new achievement confirms the continuous successes attained by the kingdom’s media sector, in light of HM the King’s unwavering care, and comprehensive development process which promoted the freedom of opinion and expression, supported the honest and free word, as well as paved the way from the Bahraini media to carry out its mission in serving the nation’s issues and defending its high interests with utmost responsibility and professionalism.

Dr. Ramzan Al Noaimi pledged that the Information Ministry would continue implementing HM King Hamad’s sound visions and directives by developing the national media system to be more capable and influential in highlighting the aspects of the progress and prosperity the kingdom is witnessing under HM the King’s leadership.

Labour Market Regulatory Authority intensifies inspection campaigns

The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) announced the implementation of five joint inspection campaigns in coordination with the relevant government agencies in all governorates, with the aim of verifying compliance with laws and regulations, and addressing illegal practices that affect the labour market.

The inspection campaigns included visits to a number of commercial facilities, work sites, as well as a number of health institutions, and resulted in reporting a number of violations.

The violations were noted and referred for legal action.The Authority implemented a joint campaign in coordination with the National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA) and the Social Insurance Organization (SIO) in the Capital, Northern and Southern governorates.

A joint inspection campaign was also carried out in the Capital Governorate with the participation of the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA), the Directorate of Police in the Governorate, in addition to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MOIC), and the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, while the third campaign was in coordination with the with the Sentences Enforcement Directorate at the Ministry of Interior in the Capital Governorate.

Two inspection campaigns were also carried out in Muharraq Governorate in coordination with the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Evidence to monitor cases of trafficking in persons and forced labour.

The Labour Market Regulatory Authority renewed its call on all members of society to support the efforts of government agencies to address illegal practices in the labour market by filling out the electronic form designated for reporting on the official website of the Authority www.lmra.gov.bh or calling the Authority’s call center 17506055.

Bahrain attends session on UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy

The UN General Assembly led a session for the eighth review of the United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy on June 22-23 June at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, USA.

Addressing the session, Chief of Strategic Affairs Department at the Foreign Ministry Ambassador Nancy Abdulla Jamal stressed the importance of developing and unifying concepts related to terrorism and extremism, especially in light of global changes and emerging complex challenges.

She called for a consensus on definitions and terminology related to terrorism among the UN Member States in their different languages and cultures which, she said, will contribute to confronting future threats collectively and efficiently.

The ambassador highlighted the importance of finding a sustainable solution to eradicate the sources of the scourge of extremism by finding counter-narratives

“Regional efforts established viable standards which are appropriate to the culture of the region, by applying an approach based on the promotion of religious principles and national values, as well as psychological and social safeguards”, she said.
