Works Ministry hands over NBB Multi sclerosis Centre to Government Hospitals

The Works Ministry has handed over the newly-built National Bank of Bahrain (NBB) Multiple Sclerosis Centre to the Government Hospitals.

Supreme Council of Health (SCH) President Lieutenant-General Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa patronized the handover ceremony, which was also attended by Works Minister Ibrahim bin Hasan Al Hawaj, Health Minister Dr. Jaleela bint Al Sayyed Jawad Hasan.

Also present were Government Hospital Board of Trustees’ Board of Trustees’ Chairman Shaikh Hesham bin Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, Government Hospitals CEO Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Al Ansari, Shaikh Mishal bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa and NBB Head of Corporate Communications Hisham Abul Al Fateh and other officials.

The center is considered the first specialized and independent medical facility in terms of building and equipment for the treatment of MS patients Bahrain, which will contribute to providing the best diagnostic and treatment services.

It features seven outpatient clinics, wards for MRI diagnosis, physiotherapy, manual exercise therapy, in addition to private and public treatment rooms, a laboratory, pharmacy, a scientific research center, a lecture hall, medical warehouses, a service building, administrative offices and parking lots.

The construction works of the project were awarded to Yousef Al-Zayani Trading and Contracting Company, while Adel Ahmadi Associates Company designed and supervised the implementation of the consulting scheme.

In a statement, the SCH chief hailed the key project which was implemented within the visions and aspirations of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister to develop the health sector which tops the Government’s priorities.

Lt.Gen. Dr. Shaikh Mohammed He stressed the importance of the centre in serving MS patrients to meet their needs and ensure them advanced medical therapies.

Al Hawaj stressed the importance attached by HM the King and HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister to developing infrastructure projects in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

He commended the role of private sector as an essential partner in supporting sustainable development efforts and implement Government projects, noting the centre has been financed by the National Bank of Bahrain, including construction works, medial equipment and furniture.

Dr. Hasan commended NBB-support to the health sector to provide premium medical services, which contributes to developing the health sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain. .

Dr. Al Ansari indicated that the centre will cater to the needs of multiple sclerosis patients, including diagnostic, therapeutic, rehabilitative, and preventive services.

The hub will be equipped with a team that includes qualified professional cadres from various medical and health specialties, to deal with the disease and improve the standard of services provided to this category of patients in order to improve their quality of life and enable them to coexist with the disease.

Abul Al Fateh said that the medical facility reflects the bank’s keenness on community participation, and firm commitment to advancing social responsibility towards the Kingdom of Bahrain, and diversifying its support.

Ministry of Health and its Moroccan counterpart agree on enhancing health cooperation between the two countries.

The GNU Ministry of Health and its Moroccan counterpart agreed to hold a meeting between the ministers of health of both countries to actually start setting plans and programs that ensure the promotion of health cooperation between the two countries.

This came during a meeting between the Undersecretary for Hospital Affairs, Saad Eddin Abdel-Wakil, and his Moroccan counterpart, Abdel-Karim Belfkih, on the sidelines of the 3rd International Consultation on the Health of Refugees and Migrants, which is currently taking place in Morocco, during which they discussed a mechanism for expanding joint cooperation aspects and exchanging experiences in the health area.

It is noteworthy that the meeting was attended by the Chargé d’Affaires of the Libyan Embassy in Rabat, Abu Bakr Al-Taweel, and the former assistant health attaché, Abdul Rahman Farara, according to the ministry’s Facebook page.

UoB hosts Bahrain Teachers College’s graduation ceremony

Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the University of Bahrain (UoB) today hosted, in the presence of Education Minister and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Higher Education Council, Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, the graduation ceremony of the Bahrain Teachers’ College (BTC) for the 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th batches (from 2017-2018 to 2019-2020).

The graduation ceremony for the Education Leadership Program (ELP) the Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) Programme is held at the Shaikh Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa’s Hall at the UoB on Sunday and Monday.

Addressing the opening ceremony, the Minister of Education extended profound thanks and gratitude to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for his unwavering support for the education sector and its affiliates, given its importance as pillar of development and a major tributary of progress.

He paid tribute to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, whose constant support, he said, has contributed to achieving the national goals in this vital sector.

Dr. Juma also expressed thanks and appreciation to HM the King’s Special Representative, His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, for his special support for BTC, which was established to meet the kingdom’s needs for national qualified teaching competencies.

The minister pointed out that the graduation ceremony coincides with BTC’s success in obtaining the international accreditation from the US-based Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) for seven years, between 2023 and 2030, noting that the global achievement gives an additional academic value to its programmes and outputs.

Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma congratulated all the graduates, parents, board members and the administrative staff for their efforts to provide a suitable environment conducive for success, paying tribute for the academic staff for their endeavours to prepare qualified teachers.

He unveiled that as many as 11 batches, or 3992 students, have graduated from BTC since its establishment in 2008, noting that the Education Ministry will accelerate the employment of the new batch of graduates.

Then, UoB President, Dr. Fuad Mohammed Al-Ansari, and Acting BTC Dean, Dr. Lucy Bailey, delivered statements in which they congratulated the graduates on their hard work, wishing them continued success in serving the kingdom and its leadership.

After that Ahmed Mohammed Awadhi and Hanan Ali Al-Saboodi delivered statements in Arabic and English, respectively, on behalf of the graduates.

Then, a documentary film on BTC’s history and achievements was screened.

Following that, the Education Minister honoured members of BTC Board of Directors, and presented the graduates with certificates.

Assistant Undersecretary for Social Development highlights technology’s role in civil societies

Under the patronage of Osama bin Ahmed Khalaf Al Asfoor, Social Development Minister, the Bahrain Voluntary Work Society (BVWS) organized a program theme “Digital transformation of NGOs”.

Assistant Undersecretary for the Social Development Ministry Enas Mohamed Al-Majed and Hassan bin Eid Bukhammas, BVWS’ Honorary President were present.

The Assistant Undersecretary stressed the importance of promoting and keeping pace with technological changes to develop the sector of civil and professional associations and non-profit institutions in Bahrain, by introducing them to the available digital solutions to contribute to the investment of modern technologies in the work of civil organizations

She noted that the Ministry of Social Development is keen to provide all appropriate means and necessary support for the development of voluntary work and help it to play its role to the fullest.

The Assistant Undersecretary said that the initiative of BVWS in organizing this training program, in cooperation with the Digital Skills Foundation, and the Abdul Rahim Al-Kooheji Charitable Foundation, reflects the association’s awareness of social responsibility, by providing opportunities for civil society organizations to benefit from the process of enabling digital transformation, to enhance their services to beneficiary groups, and use technology to contribute to the effective and quality performance of their role.

During the program, an exhibition of digital transformation platforms was inaugurated. Supporting agencies and relevant community personalities were honored.

HM King returns to Bahrain following UAE visit

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa today returned to the kingdom following a visit to the United Arab Emirates.

During the visit, HM the King met UAE President, His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan.

HM the King and HH President Mohammed bin Zayed held talks on the solid fraternal relations between the two countries, as well as areas of joint cooperation and coordination.

Upon arrival, HM King Hamad was welcomed mainly by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
