Political Consultation Committee between Saudi Arabia and Algeria Holds its 1st Meeting in Riyadh

The first meeting of the Political Consultation Committee was held in Riyadh, at the level of senior officials of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria.

The Assistant Minister of State for African Countries Affairs, Ambassador Dr. Sami bin Abdullah Al-Saleh, chaired the Saudi delegation, while the Algerian delegation was chaired by the Director General of Arab Countries Noureddine Khandoudi. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Abdullah Al-Busairi, the Saudi Ambassador to Algeria, Dr. Mohammed bin Ali Boghazi, the Ambassador of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and several officials from the foreign ministries of the two countries.

During the meeting, they discussed ways to enhance the historical and strategic bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields. They also exchanged views on several regional and international issues of common concern.

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ Iftar Program in Bangladesh Sees 800 Attendees

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call, and Guidance, represented by the Religious Attaché at the Saudi Embassy in Bangladesh, held yesterday an Iftar banquet, as part of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ Iftar Program.

As many as 800 university professors, teachers and students attended the Iftar banquet and extended their thanks to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its people and its wise leadership.

Asian Shares Rise

Shares were mostly higher in Asia on Monday, after a report Friday showed resilience in the US jobs market, the Associated Press reported.

Benchmarks rose in Tokyo and Seoul but fell in Shanghai. Markets were closed in Hong Kong and Sydney after last week ended with Good Friday holidays in many countries. US futures were mixed and oil prices declined.

In Asian trading Monday, Tokyo’s Nikkei 225 index added 0.4% to 27,629.25. In Seoul, the Kospi surged 0.9% to 2,512.28

The Shanghai Composite index gave up early gains, losing 0.2% to 3,322.58. Shares rose in Taiwan but fell in Southeast Asia.

In another trading, US benchmark crude shed 3 cents to $80.67 per barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude lost 9 cents to $85.03 per barrel.

The dollar rose to 132.69 Japanese yen from 132.16 yen. The euro slipped to $1.0892 from $1.0902

Weather Forecast for Monday

According to the National Center of Meteorology (NCM), today the moderate and torrential thundershowers, accompanied by strong winds mixed with dusts are still forecast for some parts of Jazan, Asir, Baha, Makkah and Madinah regions, reducing visibility. The fog will be formed in the said regions, as well as some parts of the Eastern region and the surface winds will be strong in some parts of Northern Borders and Jawf regions, reducing visibility.

Winds will be northwesterly to westerly in the northern part of the country, registering a speed of 15 to 42km/h, with thunderstorms in the central and southern parts. In the Arabian Gulf, winds will be southwesterly to northwesterly in the northern part, registering a speed of 10 to 30km/h and southeasterly to northeasterly, turning northwesterly in the southern part, registering a speed of 12 to 32km/h.

Guinea-Bissau President Arrives in Madinah

President Umaro Sissoco Embalo of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau arrived in Madinah today to perform prayers at the Prophet’s Mosque.

Upon his arrival at Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah, he was received by Deputy Governor of Madinah Region Prince Saud bin Khalid Al-Faisal and a number of senior officials.

Two Holy Mosques Presidency Provides Quality Services for Over One Million Visitors and Umrah Performers in a Single Day

The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Holy Mosque and the Prophet’s Holy Mosque provided many of its qualitative services for Umrah performers and visitors of the Grand Mosque, whose total number reached 1,048,600 as of yesterday, it was reported today.

The services provided to Grand Mosque’s visitors included distributing 59,520 Zamzam water bottles and 10,700 booklets and pamphlets in addition to providing digital awareness to 115,000 individuals, field awareness to 170,000 beneficiaries and voluntary services to 240,896 persons.

As many as 6,188 persons also benefited from the Ramadan exhibition held at the Grand Mosque and 2,471 people were helped to perform Tawaf (circumambulation).

To ensure hygienic conditions, 130,000 litres of disinfectants, 32,450 litres of carpet sanitisers, and 33,425 litres of surface sterilization were consumed in addition to 5,825 litres used by robots for sterilisation. In addition, 5,975 litres of hand sanitisers and 5,765 litres of bio-care sterilisers were also provided.

Among the services provided were distributing 2,632 bracelets among younger visitors, providing social and humanitarian services to 81,601 beneficiaries, enabling 4,850 individuals to benefit from the elderly and people with disabilities, and giving spatial guidance in various languages to 101,679 beneficiaries as well as laying 35,000 carpets in the Grand Mosque.
